Help with dialing patterns

Can someone explain to me how dialing patterns work on the 5000?

I'm still attempting to fight this E911 thing; I want 311/911/933 to be sent out a SIP trunk (they're listed as emergency numbers and my emergency extension is set to the SIP trunk group) but when I dial 311/933, it still attempts to use the PRI

To clarify, what I would like to have happen is any time a 9xx number is dialed, send it out the SIP trunk.

Create a new Route Group containing the desired dial patterns, and drag it above anything else that is a match. For example, the default N+ route table is a match for those digits.

Route calls by using the appropriate Facility Group, or create a new one if needed.

That's what I'm having issue with...what would my dial pattern be that would encompass 911/933 ?

When I dial 933 now, I get invalid extension, so I'm sure whatever I have set up isn't correct (9+)

9+ would cover everything, or just enter 911 and 933 individually.

Make sure your Emergency outgoing destination is 92000 for ARS, assuming 911 is entered as your emergency number.

Tried that, no dice...933 is still an invalid extension

Okay, I’ve got it now. I completely missed the fact that you were trying to dial 933 directly. You can’t.

Here’s how 911 works: 911 is a feature code on the system. If you dial 911 without first selecting an outside line (or trunk group, or whatever), the system will dial the emergency number listed in the numbering plan, using the emergency routing and telephone number programmed for each endpoint.

If you access an outside line before dialing 911, it will ignore the feature code information and dial 911 using the outbound access for the station.

933 is not a valid feature code or extension, so you receive the error message. Why is it you want to dial 933 anyway?

933 is what the SIP trunk provider wants me to dial to test that everything is working properly (the correct number is being sent to the call center and that the address is correct.  I know I can dial my SIP trunk group, then dial 933# and get the correct info, but I wanted to use 933 to do a test for remote notes.  (I have a IP-connected node that needs to access the SIP trunks to send a sudo-number so emergency services are sent to the correct location)

How about removing 911 as your emergency number and inserting 933 for testing? When you dial the feature code 911, the system will will translate it to 933. Make sure everyone knows, or test after hours.

To make sure I understand correctly, remove 911 from the emergency numbers under the numbering plan and add 933?  Then when I dial 911, it'll go to the location under numbering plan and since it can't find 911, will dial 933 instead?

Correct, the feature code 911 will dial the number entered as the emergency number. Just like when you have Centrex lines and you make the emergency number 9911.
