Application Group Licensing
« on: March 22, 2012, 01:24:26 PM »
I need clarification on a question about Application Group Licensing. I have 6 3300´s all release 5.0.SP1 in service and working. My question is the EDOC´s indicate when configuring the MCD(s) I "may be prompted" to reset the system, will I or won´t I?

The E-DOCS (MCD 5) Configuring the MCD step 6

Allocate Local Licenses:

With the group licenses distributed to all the nodes the application group, the next task is to allocate local licenses from the group licence pool.

This is done on each node using Application Reach Through.

Navigate to the License and Option Selection form on the first node.

Notice the pool of licenses in the ‘Available for Allocation’ column. (Figure 12).

For each option, we enter the number of licenses that the first node requires.

Once the local license allocations have been applied and the node rebooted (if prompted to do so), reach through to the other nodes to allocate their licenses. Finish by issuing the ‘RESET SYSTEM’ maintenance command to reboot the node if prompted.

I imagine it would be in the same way as applying licenses. Depending on the licenses being applied you may or may not have to reboot.

Do you have the group licensing available and have configured that site as a DLM? I thought this was still in a controlled release and wasn't GA yet.
