Mitel 3300 analog line keys
« on: December 21, 2011, 06:11:01 AM »
Hello,

I am new to the forums as i have just got into my first mitel. i am a panasonic engineer but have been asked to program a mitel 3300.

I think i have bitten off more than i can chew.

I have the system setup with 4 analog lines and the phones dial out and dial in ok but i want to be able to access the lines direct.

I thought it might be like the panasonic where you can set one of the programable keys on a 5340 ip handset to a line key so as to have lines 1 2 3 4.

if i had hair i would be pulling it out about now.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

Can't do it the same way.
You can program a trunk directly on a key but you can't use it like you'd want to, such a fwd to vm or xfer.

What we normally do is program up keys on a phone as extension, put them in a hunt group and then program the trunks to ring the hunt group.  This simulates the key system approach yet still gives all the features of a PBX.

You've got a bit of a learning curve here.   Good luck with the project.

ok so forgive me for being very dense with this.....

have created 4 hunt groups and pointing line 1 to hunt group 1, 2 to 2 and so on.....

when i try and assign the hunt group number to a function i am getting various error messages.
what type do i need to set the key to?

i know this is probably a lot to ask even considering i am new to the forum but can someone possibly give me set by step instructions on how to do this?

Thanks again

so i have just done the following.

~Set the lines to go to a virtual ext. 4001 and on each of the real phones i have setup a multicall button set to 4001 and ring. this rings the desired phones however when i put the call on hold only i can see that i have done this no one else can retrieve the call.

Any suggestions?

You'll have to change the key type from Multicall to Key System.
That means you'll have to delete all of the keys except for the last one and then recreate them in Key System mode.

Then you'll be able to see the call on hold and pick it up from other phones.

Actually you can go into multiline appearance groups and change it from multicall to key system without deleting all the members

hello,

I have tried both methods and we have decided to just point the trunk to a hunt group and add members to that group. however the only options are for circular or terminal grouping... is there no option to have it ring all phones ring at the same time?

I am going to play with pickup group now....

You would be adding phantom extensions to the hunt group that you would be programming on the phones that you would like to ring so you would not want all of them to ring at once. The extensions in the group would be like line 1, 2 and so on.

Ring groups would allow you to ring all sets at once without the phantom exts, but they will not allow the system to simulate a key system.

You can create an Hunt Group Terminal ex: 4000

On each of your phone you create a key - Key System - Ring #4001 for line 1, 4002 for line 2 4003 for line 3........

You put the member 4001-4002-4003 in the hunt group 4000

In the trunk assignment, you put the day - n1 -n2 answer point to 4000 for each of your trunk.
