Mitel 3300 using Free 411
« on: November 17, 2011, 09:35:08 AM »
Been working with Ralph and we figured out a way to save some costs on the phone bill for directory assistance calls.  In reference to an old thread http://mitelforums.com/forum/index.php/topic,964.0.html we wanted anyone that called the 551212 directory assistance to be redirected to one of the free 411 services(in our case we are using the BING-411) instead of being charged the $1.99 per call.

To do this I created a new route that mimicked our existing route but had a different digit modification number.

Under the new digit modification number I had it absorb all 12 digits dialed(9+1+AREA CODE+5551212) and then insert the digits of 18002464411.

Then under ARS digits dialed I had to create a Digits dialed for each of our local area codes as well as a catch all digits dialed of 91XXX that included the 5551212 number with 0 digits to follow that referenced my new route.

Below is the data from the actual forms of how its configured on our system:

ARS Routes

Route Number   Routing Medium   Trunk Group Number   COR Group Number   Digit Modification Number
31         IP/XNET Trunk Group   6            11            31
32         IP/XNET Trunk Group   6            12            32
33         IP/XNET Trunk Group   6            13            33
34         IP/XNET Trunk Group   6            14            34
35         IP/XNET Trunk Group   6            15            35

37         IP/XNET Trunk Group   6            12            37

ARS Digit Modification Plans

Digit Modification Number    Number of Digits to Absorb   Digits to be Inserted
37                  12               918002464411

ARS Digits Dialed

Digits Dialed      Number of Digits to Follow   Termination Type   Termination Number

918105551212   0                  Route         37
91866         7                  Route         31
918665551212   0                  Route         37
91877         7                  Route         31
91888         7                  Route         31
91906         7                  Route         33
919065551212   0                  Route         37

919475551212   0                  Route         37
91989         7                  Route         33
919895551212   0                  Route         37
91XXX5551212   0                  Route         37

Now rather than constantly having to remind people to use the FREE 411 services they are forced to use them automatically.  Hope this helps anyone else that might be experiencing similar costs on there phone bill.

Good work you shouldn't need all the area code entries in your ars as anyone dialing 9-1-Area Code-5551212 is already routed that way with 91XXX5551212.

That didn't work because there were routes for specific area codes  i.e. 91313+7.   This took precedent over 91xxx5551212.   Didn't have to do all area codes, just the ones where there were specific routes.

Just tried 1-800-BING-411.   Their message states that as of June 1, 2012, their service will no longer be available.

Anyone know of any other free 411 services?

Ralph
