Two Way Audio Issue
« on: August 25, 2011, 11:02:36 PM »
Hello everyone.
I have a very weird issue with 8620 with 5000. It works fine inside the office but when I take out to home and it connects but there is no audio both ways. 5000 in NAT'd public to private IP. I forwarded all the ports on the router to the phone system, thinking must be some port being blocked but no luck.
Can someone guide me in a right direction?
Thanks

Hi Kal

Ports to forward:

3998-3999 TCP
4000 TCP (If you want to administer the system remotely)
5004-5007 UDP Range
5060 UDP (Not needed for IP endpoints but sometimes needed for SIP Trunks)
5566 TCP
5567 UDP
5570 TCP
6004-7039 UDP Range
6800-6802 TCP Range
20001 UDP
50098-50508 UDP Range

Some of these port are only required for the newer Mitel branded handsets.

No voice is almost always caused by port / router problems.

Have you turned off flood defence if your router has it, sometimes a 'flood' of RTP packets can cause the router to try and defend itself from what it sees as an a possible DOS attack.

Sometimes it just doesn't work through a particular router at the phone system location.

I've spent hours and hours trying to get voice packets through the BT Business ADSL routers only to change them for a Draytek Vigor with instant success.

HTH
