Mitel MAS - Some new features
« on: June 20, 2011, 12:58:47 PM »
Here's a handful of new features I made note of for version 3.0.

UCA 4.1
Co-Resident on MAS
Support for Android and BlackBerry

Support for MCD 4.2 SP1
   MCD 5.0 support with MAS 3.0 SP1

AWC
Renaming AWC to to Mitel Collaboration Advanced
Support for up to 300 audio and web ports.

Single audio conference call increased to 200 participants

Connect all audio participants in "listen only mode"
   - prevents users from muting/un-muting themselves

NuPoint
MAS NuPoint UM US language default changed to Numeric prompts.
Good news for BlackBerry users.

Plus MAS 3.0 supports MBG 7.0. 7.0 supports IPv6 and can be used as a IPv4 to IPv6 gateway

Is the app going to do anything other than allow you to change your presence?

Hmmm.
Don't know.   I've seen the Android place calls - pretty cool.   Looks like you're calling from your desk.
Can't see how that would work with iPad.

So the app has a softphone built into it? FINALLY!! It would work fine on the iPAD as long as you have some type of headset. Any idea if the chat feature works on it? That would be huge.

I saw a quick video interview yesterday - wish I could find the link again, dang it - where Mitel said the iPad/iPhone app would be released in Q4.   Maybe, just maybe, one of the Mitel lurkers out there can PM one of you to be beta testers.  (hint to Mitel)

I have an iPad and iPhone. I think I would be a good tester!

For those that haven't seen yet, MAS 3.0, along with UCA 4.1 was released at the start of the week.

If you're planning to go to 3300 5.0, it's a good idea to upgrade MAS now.   It's going to be a requirement.

How does your iPhone connect to the MAS server - do you need a public IP Address and A Records assigned to it, and open up your firewall?  Is there any information on this anywhere?

Buy the Bria SIP client from the app Store.
Your FW will have to allow SIP to the Teleworker (MBG).
Program a SIP phone on the PBX.
In the SIP client it's pretty much as easy as telling it where the SIP server is and extn and password.
Really easy to set up.
