UC Advanced 4.1 - SIP Phone Problems

Our company has just purchased a 3300 ICP along with UC Advanced
I have configured a user to have both a softphone extn and a deskphone extn.
My question is: Can UC Advanced act as a softphone and monitor a Deskphone at the same time?
To try this, I added a softphone and deskphone in the UC licence profile.
I also logged into the UC client and changed the status to forward calls to the softphone when in the office.
When i dialed the deskphone, instead of forwarding me to the softphone, it went straight to voicemail.
I also noticed that the headset icon had a cross on it, suggesting it was not available.
If I logged into another SIP device, it forwarded the call to the SIP device.
Any ideas to get this one resolved???
