External calls reroute differently
« on: May 16, 2011, 11:02:31 AM »
Hi there, We have a mitel 3300 and a problem.

I just set the rerouting for phone number 7480. When I call it, and it's not logged in, it is rerouted to an external number. However, when someone from outside the network calls the number (with the appropriate prefix) it is rerouted differently(i.e. not at all).

Is there any reason for this discrepancy? If so, how do i fix it?

Jaap, Holland

Is your system configurated to allow incoming trunk connections to external destinations? This is easily checked by diverting a phone externally and dial the DID number.

Also check to make sure that the external options are selected to reroute in the Call Reroute form you are using to reroute the calls (I assume that this is how you are rerouting the call).

most likley 'public trunk to public trunk allowed' is not enabled in COS. Be very careful when enabling this option as if you dont know what you are doing you can open the system up to toll fraud (dont want to scare monger but its best to be on the safe side and check all ARS & COR especially for vmail ports).
