Unsupervised conference call
« on: December 19, 2017, 10:13:54 AM »
We use the Mitel 250 system and one of our 8660 phones rings and shows on the display unsupervised conference call. If the user picks up the phone they can listen to other phone conversations without the other people knowing that they are on the line. How can I stop this?

JasonPetty,

It is an Unsupervised Conference Call. That means that there are no phones within the phone system that are on the call currently so it will go to the Operator. You must be on older software because that feature was moved and changed to end calls after 1 hour if no one presses 1 or a phone on the system joins. The operator of the call can removed themselves, but I don't think there is a way to stop it from happening. What you could do it increase the timer to its maximum [255] minutes.

Since it sounds like you are on older software you would go to System > Timers and Limits > Unsupervised Conference the new location is under System > Conference Related Information > Meet-Me Conferencing > Unsupervised CO Conference Timer.

Thanks,

TE

JasonPetty,

Are these calls to users with DEE? If so then it is an Unsupervised CO Conference Call.

Thanks,

TE

No the calls that phone picks up are calls that are already in progress outside of the company.  For example a salesman on the phone with a customer using an outgoing line is in progress and this phone suddenly rings and on the display show unsupervised conference call and that user can now here the conversation between the salesman and customer. No conference was ever started.

JasonPetty,

Is that salesperson using a Mitel phone or their cell phone when talking to their customer?

The problem is that the system see that two CO trunks are being used and that there isn't a Mitel phone attached to either end of the call. Just because someone didn't press the conference button doesn't mean there isn't a conference type call going on. A call forwarded out, DEE, and an actual Conference call are all conference calls to the system, and they are unsupervised if there isn't a actual extension on the system involved in the call.

Thanks,

TE

JasonPetty,

Well, at that point you either have some sort of corruption in your system or something else is going on. Either way without being there to trace the OAI stream it would be hard to tell what is really going on.

How does the salesperson explain the call prior to the other user picking it up?

Sorry,

TE

I dont think the salesperson is ever aware that someone conferences on the call. And it is always the same extension that rings and displays unsupervised conference call.

JasonPetty,

That is because that phone is the Primary Attendant for the system.

Thanks,

Yep, checked and somehow that ext. was flagged as primary attendant instead of the admin's phone, also had the flag for attendant which I marked as no. Hopefully that solves it. Thank you for the help!
