Hot Desk / Device Only Digital Phones {Solved}
« on: May 11, 2018, 10:51:57 AM »
I am being asked to convert our call center to hot desking agents. I would like to have phones with no extension until hotdesk is used to log into that phone. I don't see a way to do this in our  Mitel 5000 with Firmware 6.0 SP3. When I go into the Controllers section and select an unused Port, I see the option for Digital Phone, select that, but then I must choose an extension number to continue. I guess knowing what I know about this system, everything logically has some kind of extension number whether it's a phone or programming. I guess I'm simply asking if every digital phone must have a number, or is there a way to have a digital phone exist with no extension number until someone logs in using hot desk?

Thank you.

SteAnnesIT,

No, everything station that exists in the system can only exist with a number.

Sorry,

When I've used Hot Desks in the past I've always named the 'base' phone extn as LOGGED OUT.

Makes it easier when users call in with a fault.
