You have to make sure that wherever the SMBC connects to your network stack that the VLAN is tagged between SMBC and the Switches so that it can provide DHCP when the phones broadcast requesting one. As long as the phones voice vlan is the same VLAN the SMBC is tagged on then the DHCP request which is a broadcast from the devices will reach the SMBC and it should assign an IP address to the phones.

Alright so I found an older thread from Ralph that explained a way to get this working.

x1000 programmed on a 5330e
1000 forwards to 11000 (ring group) on busy
MWI for 1000 set on 5330e

The final issue I'm running into is that the ring group is only ringing for 2 rings. I've changed the CoS for both the originating extension and ring group but the issue persists. Having the ring group ring longer than the desk phone would be ideal as I'm getting 5 rings on the desk phone.

Hi all.
We have MIVO400 SMBC which was working fine with 69xx SIP phones on a network that had PCs and phones on the same subnet. Recently we separated subnets and created a second one for the phones and a voice VLAN.
We are using Cisco switches and configured the voice VLAN on all access switchports. The phones must get DHCP from the SMBC. PCs connect to the back of the phones and get DHCP from Fortinet Firewall. When connected to the network the phones are not getting the voice VLAN ID and fail to get IP addresses (If I test with a phone on MINET it gets the voice VLAN ID). They get stuck on "20% DHCP: Waiting for IP". What configuration must I do on the Fortinet to enable the phones to get the voice VLAN ID and make the request DHCP from SMBC?
Please advise.

Thanks for the reply.

I'm able to get it to route to the voicemail for x1000 after changing the 1st Alt but the issue of the MWI persists. The MWI does not work for the desk phone for x1000 since "the directory number is in use elsewhere". Is there a way to have the MWI appear on the deskphone for that extension?

SIP On Mitel / Re: Alarm lines on ATA's

I just saw an option for this from Verizon too, called POTSSolve. It's a box with 8 or 16 ATA Ports that connects to a 66 Block to swing your existing cross-connect to and had a battery backup. Each port is a dedicated line.

Voicemail won't pick up for your overflow point. You'll want to call rerouting 1st Alternative for 1000 to go to voicemail and have mailbox 1000.

A couple of options are available to you from there. I'm not sure if the 112's have additional line keys, but you could put a message waiting indicator for x1000 on those or the 1004 extension.

Is SIP over WiFi an option? We use the Grandstream WP825 connected to Wi-Fi which gives us better range over being tied to a dect base station. Pretty easy to program the device to point to the MiVB and configure a SIP extension. I do have one Mitel 5634 on Wi-Fi as well but for the cost with the same functionality and an easier setup I prefer the GS WP825.

For some of my users we have a segmented, public-only wifi network that would require the phones to be in teleworker mode, or on a VPN so I tend to gravitate toward the DECT base stations that we can hardwire.

Mitel Software Applications / Re: Call Director Call Flow Actions

Thanks for the reply.  The action I want is in a different call flow.  It looks like "Existing Actions" only shows actions from the call flow it was created in :(
