Shoretel - MiVoice Connect / Noob IT person here with Shoretel issue
« Last post by Grifftech on March 28, 2025, 11:23:10 AM »
So I am the new all in one IT guy at a very small business that runs Shoretel hardware for our phone system, Shortel UC 20, Shoretel SG90, InGate Sipirator and Shoretel 212k phones.  So we have no issues with calls coming in but none of the phones on the system can dial out and when we try to call out it just says Reorder Tone on the phone screen.

Any tips on what I can check in Shoretel Director would be greatly appreciated. I am going to wait to the end of the day to try to reboot the hardware as a last resort :)

Thanks,
Grifftech

MiVoice Office 250/Mitel 5000 / Re: Mitel 5000 Default Password

admin / itpassw

Has been the default since 2.0 (so early to mid 2000's).

Again, defaulting the database from the front panel on modern systems does NOT reset the password.

Still doesn't seem to work. What would the username be?

It is usually itpassw or it5k (older controllers and software, like pre-2.4 or 3.0) if memory serves me correctly...

But it seems to me a "default database" through the front panel leaves the admin password and software license key in place on newer systems (like HX controllers with 6.0 or higher software, maybe even 5.0).

The only way around that is Mitel Tech Support (which requires active Software Assurance and a fee and Docusign document of ownership) or a new CompactFlash card.

Okay, turned out if I used DMZ profile where public IP was ICP and Set side the phones worked correctly.

New to MiVB. Trying to configure MBG to allow 6900 series phone to work remotely. MBG configured in "LAN" profile mode. Basically handsets, MiVB, and MiCollab/MBG all on the same network, but it's not accessible to anything outside its network. Have firewall set to allow traffic from internet to MBG, and destination NAT rules configured for MiNET specific ports (secure options) and based on the packet captures (wiretap between firewall and cable modem, and port mirror of virtual MiCollab server) this all appears to be configured correctly.

The 6900 series phone will come up with a blank screen, with a triangle icon in the upper right corner of the phone. I can "enable" the phone that populates in the MBG to allow it access, but it's like the phone never registers with MiVB correctly. Doesn't matter if I assign the MAC address to an existing user. I never get the screen that prompts for a PIN. I can however connect a phone locally to the MBG server and it can get assigned and work correctly. However I noticed in this configuration, the phone does not consume a teleworker license, vs. a true remote phone does consume a teleworker license.

Is there any kind of MiVB configuration (class of service, class of restriction) that needs to be set correctly to make this work? Or is my network profile the problem? The "ICP side" and "set side" are both the local network of the MBG, not sure if that's part of the problem.

Any assistance/documentation would be super helpful.
