Mitel MiVoice Business/MCD/3300 / Re: Can't delete account code?

I suppose I could try that, but we have a ticket open with Mitel right now, so I don't want to mess with it.

Mitel MiVoice Business/MCD/3300 / Can't delete account code?
« on: September 14, 2012, 01:41:35 PM »
I have an account code setup under Independent Account Codes. When I try to delete this code by highlighting it and clicking delete, I get an error that "The specified account code does not exist.".

Has anyone else run into this? We're currently on MCD 5.0 SP1 PR1.

Mitel Software Applications / Re: UCA Client connect then disconnect

We had a firewall that was doing packet level inspection of the SIP traffic and eventually deciding (after a successful connection) that it was an attack and started to block the connection.

I'd ask him the following:
- What are the plans for making the application more 64-bit friendly? The IE Plugin only works with 32 bit IE, for example.
- We're a Lotus Notes shop, and we've had all sorts of issues with the Notes plugin. The biggest one is that it does not install in MOST cases, and Mitel engineering hasn't solved that yet. Also, the calendar integration ignores long standing features of the Notes calendar, such as indicating on a meeting entry to 'Mark Available' so that your calendar doesn't indicate that the time is unavailable for other meetings (I use it all the time with All Day events, such as birthdays...). Right now, UCA will say that I'm "In a meeting" all day because it doesn't process that flag correctly.
- Are they going to get Chat capability in the iOS clients?
- Any consideration for having some type of priority system for those who use UCA on the desktop as well as a mobile device? Each wants to manage your status (mobile will want to do it based on your location, desktop wants to it based on your calendar). I get that, but some type of priority system for which client gets priority to do status updates over the other would be helpful (I'm not explaining this well, I apologize if that confuses anyone).
- It would be wonderful if there could be some type of either coordinated timer and/or desktop option to change your status to be 'In the office' and 'Out of the office' either based on a time of day (timer) or based on whether the desktop application is running. Many of our users just quit the desktop at the end of their day (or walk out of the building) and don't change their status (most users do not use the mobile client), so it leaves them as 'In the office' even through UCA is no longer running. Some other type of status, maybe even 'Status unavailable' would be more helpful than wondering if the user is really still in the office.

I'll have more, for sure. Those are the few that have been bugging me the most.

Yes, thanks! We need something like this right now.

Mitel Software Applications / Re: UCA Synchronisation
« on: July 31, 2012, 09:00:30 AM »
We have 5320s and 5330s here, running MAS 4.0 and UCA. When I change my dynamic status to 'Mobile' (which directs the calls to my cell phone), the indicator on my phone does show that the calls are being forwarded (it takes a couple seconds before it displays after switching the status).

Just a thought, but is the user's correct Desk Phone listed next to their name in the Mitel Unified Communications Server Configuration settings? I know it should be...but it may be worthwhile to double-check.

It may depend on the version of MAS.

When I login, I have my list of contacts in the left frame, and in the right I have my call history. Above my call history I have links to 'Home', 'Call History','Messages', etc. as well as 'Dynamic Status'. Click on the Dynamic Status button/link and you should be brought to the Dynamic Status screen which has your statuses listed and Add/Delete buttons at the bottom of the list.

For reference, we're using MAS 4.0.

You can also change your dynamic status.
There's also a scheduler in it to change your status based on time of day/weekday (if I recall correctly).
You can listen to your voicemails.
You can review your call history.
You can see other user's phone and dynamic statuses.

I was the only one using it on my iPad and I stopped. We don't have the ports opened up on our firewall and I got tired of having to VPN in to use UCA on it.

I've been playing around with it for months. It does not appear to have either of those functionalities.

I can't see why they wouldn't put chat in there; the BB and Android clients have it. I don't think the iPhone/iPod client does, tho.

When I used the iPhone/iPod client on my iPod (I don't have an iPhone), it did not have a softphone either. None of their mobile clients do...not that I'm aware of, anyway.

Mitel MiVoice Business/MCD/3300 / Re: Mitel SSD drive failure
« on: July 09, 2012, 10:02:52 AM »
We've had 2 go out in one 3300, once likely due to a brownout (the 3300 was being prepped for another location and was not on a UPS) and another time after a seemingly clean shutdown prior to shipment to the remote location.

We had another experience some partial corruption after a bad UPS did not appear to keep the 3300 up through another brownout, but the drive was never replaced. We did had to restore its configuration, though. Not sure what else was done.

We have a question wondering if it's possible to dial in from the outside to a separate DID and initiate an overhead page (with the desire to enter an account/security code beforehand). This is for burglar alarm notification purposes. Can this be done with the 3300?

12
Success!  ;D

After doing the steps above, it got us most of the way there. It appeared that we also had to assign a DID to the particular extension in order to get it to work; calls to our main number are normally redirected by the NuPoint, which apparently prevented this from working.

Can this method work without the need for assigning DIDs?

For reference, we're up to 5.0.22 now, and the same problem still exists, even after a complete install.

lr: Thanks!    :D

I'll let you know how things go.

All,

We have a problem in the implementation of our system that we're still not feeling comfortable with and want to pitch it to the community for some input.

Basically, we have a 3300 CX II and 53xx series phones deployed across the company, 5320s being the most common unit found on desktops and conference rooms. Where we're having some heartache is that if a user has an active call through the speaker and a new call comes in, there's no audio or visual indication that the phone is ringing except for the button next to the 2nd line key they have. I've had people looking at the phone directly in this condition and not know that a second call was coming in. Yes, if the user has UCA they can get a call pop-up, but even then, if they're not looking at their screen, they can miss it.

(For reference, we came from a Nortel system where the phones would always ring when you were on a call, whether you were on speaker or not.)

Where this gets to be a bigger issue is in our conference rooms. If you're in the process of setting up a conference with 2 (or more) parties and are already on speaker with one, you wouldn't know if another party calls in unless you're actively staring at the phone and watching that line key. There is no UCA available in this circumstance.

It would be great if the MWI light would flash on all incoming calls, but it doesn't do it when the speaker is being used. The phone does ring once and flash the MWI light once when the user is on their handset.

Has anyone else had the same problems? Are there any potential solutions/suggestions?

I looked here and the closest discussion I could find to this was this one.
