MiVoice Office 250/Mitel 5000 / Re: Crackling on phone line?
« on: April 30, 2012, 02:18:59 PM »
afaik they all connect via 'ethernet' but I don't know what 'digital' is. Essentially, they all have a network cable that goes directly to a switch that connects them to the mitel box.

also, i will have to double check, (it's in another bldg a few miles away, and i wont be able to make it over there today since i have a doctors appt in an hour), but i think the people with computers have the network cable come into the phone, then a cable comes out of the phone and goes into the PC.

I don't think voice and data are on separate networks (the mitel server is 192.168.1.17 and computers are in similar ranges like 192.168.1.36) and I think our internet connection is therefor shared by both.

I'm going to place a call now to the ISP to find out what the deal is...

MiVoice Office 250/Mitel 5000 / Crackling on phone line?
« on: April 30, 2012, 01:43:02 PM »
I was told about this a couple weeks ago, and it seems to happen during heavy traffic usage, and I just got the following in an email today, "We are having some serious issues with our phone lines today, we are getting calls breaking up on nearly every line".

I would like advice here on what I should do as I'm pretty novice.  Is there anywhere I can test/diagnose the source of this problem? Should I have higher up tech support look into it?

Also, can this sort of problem be from poor network topology? I'm no genius but iirc we have about 20 people in this one bldg with a 10/100 network using mitel phones and what should be light internet.

Thanks for any and all advice!

Yay, so i figured it out. We already had the feature setup for some users but not others, and i was able to enable it for the person by going to:

Voice Processor>Devices>Mailboxes>9702>persons ext. # (1202)>Unified Messaging

I set the first option, Unified Messaging Level, to 'Forward and Copy'.

Also in there was the option to set, 'E-mail address for voice messages' which had the persons email address.

Strange to me was the options above it, Email Server, Email Account Password, and Email Account Username, were all not filled in.

But it works!

First off, i want to say thank you very much NTEDAVE for answering my other questions :D

Okay, so the thing I'm trying to figure out is if it's possible to send voicemails that are on a phone to email accounts. If i hit the 'record a call' button while listening to a voicemail it says, 'cannot access feature'.

Is there anyway to program this feature into the system from the DB Studio? As a reminder, it's a Mitel CS 5200 system running v3.1.2.18 which I can connect to via DB studio.

« on: April 19, 2012, 06:00:27 PM »
Fascinating, I am using 22 of 22 Cat D licenses. There is another mitel server in our other bldg too, I'm sure it's different.

This sure is different from when I fooled around with FreePBX about a year ago :D I had 5 lines to google accounts getting unlimited free calls, and you could make as many 'end points' as you wanted.

Can I assume that Cat. D endpoint licenses are purchased one at a time and our server is remotely accessed and given such purchased licenses?

you'll have to forgive me, i'm not familiar with where i would create that group? And does it have a more specific designation, like Hunt Group, or extension group, etc.

and would this follow the Tiered idea? Tier 2 can listen in on Tier 1 and 2, but not 3. Tier 3 can listen in on 1, 2 and 3. I actually have 4 Tiers, so I want to avoid if I have a new end point added needing to go into Tier 1, 2, 3 and 4 and adding them to the 'hunt groups' 'member list' for each tier.

Ideally I could just tag them as Tier 1, and set it so Tier 1, 2, 3 and 4 can always listen in on anyone tagged Tier 1.

Thanks,
Evan.

MiVoice Office 250/Mitel 5000 / Define IP Endpoint licenses
« on: April 18, 2012, 06:20:39 PM »
Hi! I'm trying to get an exact definition for Endpoint License. It shows up in the manual I started to read as such:

"The Mitel CS-5200, CS-5400, and CS-5600 systems are sold separately as kits that include five
IP endpoint licenses each. Additional IP endpoint licenses are required before more than five IP
endpoints will operate on a system."

I think this means that by default, the CS-5200 will handle up to 5 devices (like the 5324 ip phone for example) before I must purchase a 'license' that will allow it to have more devices. Is that correct? I couldn't find a definition anywhere on the internet!

Thanks for the help!

Hi all

I recently became the resident IT person at a place that uses a Mitel CS 5200 system running v3.1.2.18 which I can connect to via DB studio

I've never worked on these systems before but I am good at duplicating instructions provided they aren't filled with words I don't understand.

I don't know what the feature is named, but essentially the ability to listen in on other people, i need to implement a tiered structure for this so anyone at Tier 1 can listen to anyone else on Tier 1, and at Tier 2 anyone can listen to anyone else on Tier 1 and 2, etc.

Currently this is managed under System>Devices and Feature Codes>Hunt Groups>Local>####

Peoples extensions are placed into the member list and supervisor list for say 2001 who are all Tier 1. Then in hunt group 2002, all people in Tier 1 and 2 are added to members, but only Tier 2 people are put in supervisors.

This can't be the correct way to go about this! I have 4 tiers and it's very redundant if a Tier 1 person is hired and I have to add them to the members list of all 4 hunt groups.

Is there anyway I can add people to a group, then say that people supervise that group?

Also, can anyone tell me where backups are setup, so I can check to make sure that it is backing up, and even further, if I royally screw something up then I can use the backup :D

Thanks for any help!
Appreciated!
