We just tested a hotline in our office which worked well - as soon as the pod handset is picked up it will dial the negotiator. If the negotiator puts the phone down, it will ring again, and again, until the pod handset is put down. This was configured in Users and Devices > Telephone Directory Management > Associated Directory Numbers

Directory Number = Pod phone
Associated Type = Hotline
Associated Number = Negotiator

Only issue with this is it is a manual process - but you could pair that with changing the tenant number of the pod and negotiator so no other handsets could call them as part of the standard take over procedure?

Mitel MiVoice Business/MCD/3300 / Call Forward Profiles Not Working...
« on: September 28, 2018, 08:24:21 AM »
Hi all,

Hoping someone out there has come across this problem before because none of us here have!

Basically, we need to set up a key on a handset to forward calls into a ring group out to an external number. Seems pretty simple - just CDE speedcall of [FAC][RG ext] then get them to dial the number to forward to. The problem being, the FAC isn't creating the call forward profile.

What's even weirder is if I manually create the profile, I can't turn it off. It will let me add, and chose the "off" radio button, but it will always turn on immediately. Editing and saving as "off" still has it turned on.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Just to confirm - the FAC being used is correct, and software Rel 8.0 SP3 if that's any use...

Cheers,
Jordan

We don't use SNMP for that, no - it's a Linux server running a script as a cron job querying the endpoints on our SBCs, which are then written to an xml file for PRTG to read.

We don't actually query the PBXs connected to the SBCs - the way we do it gives us the total trunks assigned, and the number of concurrent calls each minute (also as a percentage of the capacity assigned to the customer).

I didn't write the scripts myself and they look pretty complicated!

Thanks Jason - I did find those but the disclaimer scared me a little!

I assume they are free to use provided that the software they are monitoring is paid for and licensed?

Mitel MiVoice Business/MCD/3300 / PRTG Alarm Monitoring
« on: April 16, 2018, 08:02:43 AM »
Hi all,

We currently have PRTG monitoring a number of systems for their alarm state but currently we only get back if the alarm is clear, minor, major, or critical. Does anyone know where we can get the MIBs from to allow us to find the alarm reason for tickets to be prioritized correctly by our proactive team?

Thanks,
Jordan

Hi Belsden

We do this from a provider side with a monitoring server running a script to query the trunks on the SBC, write the results to an XML file which PRTG then reads from to put data on a graph for us.

Works really well but when I looked at the script over the weekend, I couldn't work out how it worked!

Mitel MiVoice Business/MCD/3300 / Ring Group Caller ID
« on: October 13, 2017, 06:52:22 AM »
Hi all,

We have a customer using a ring group for their main number and they have said that when a call comes in it just displays on the phone as the ring group name rather than the caller's number until they answer. Is there a setting somewhere that will suppress the ring group directory name and just display the caller ID?

They have also said that the call history is showing all of the answered calls as the ring group number rather than the caller.

Hi Lundah....So, yesterday when the others were helping I had noticed that the read only string was different and correct that, then followed their advice which didn't work.

Just went to sanity check everything again before I replied to you and saw the read only string had changed back to what it was originally. Switched that back to what it needed to be, disabled the admin group, disabled SNMP, waited 60 seconds, enabled SNMP and enabled the admin group and now both nodes are showing as clear!

One thing I can't remember is if at the top of the web page it normally says "Group alarms clear" or something? Both nodes only say "Node '[node name]' Alarm Status: No Alarm". Is that right and it only changes to group if there's an alarm on one?

Thanks for all the help everyone!

Just tried again doing SNMP and SNMP Trap config waiting 60 seconds but still no luck.

Also for what it's worth we've tried a sync between the controllers and that didn't help either.

Appreciate the help sarond, I thought you had the answer when I saw it go clear!

If anyone else has any ideas I'd appreciate it!

Both show no alarm

So, I've done that and it does clear the group alarm status on both controllers! But only for about 30 seconds  :( after that I get the original issue back again and again, neither controller has anything on the alarm details page.

Hi Sarond, that's the issue - the alarm details page has no alarms on either controller

« on: September 27, 2017, 05:45:38 AM »
Hi all,

I have a bit of a strange issue that I'm sure I've seen before but can't remember how I fixed it (if I even did fix it!)...

We have a cluster of 2 controllers which when logged into show the group alarm status as Major. If I log into cluster element 1, the alarm status of 1 is clear, and 2 is major. If I then log into cluster element 2 the status of 1 is major and 2 is clear. Whichever element I log into always shows the other as having the alarm.

Any ideas what could be causing this and how to stop the false reporting of alarms? There is nothing wrong and no service impacting issues, but the alarm needs to be cleared.

Cheers,
Jordan

SIP On Mitel / Re: International SIP Breakouts
« on: August 07, 2017, 05:21:02 PM »
I think the customer is wanting to move away from controllers at each site, and at some they don't yet have Mitel. Currently they're connecting back to the UK through the MBG.

I have found DID Logic which seems to do what we want but I have the same problem dialling one particular number even through them so I'm not sure.

More testing when I get back to the office tomorrow I think!
