MiVoice Office 250/Mitel 5000 / Re: Dial by name setup
« on: March 24, 2021, 07:34:10 AM »
The system was installed before I was hired and I subsequently received little to no training from the existing IT staff.  That was more of a "UG" statement than anything else.

I do have a ticket open, but the tech is stating that dial by name is programmed to work off the phones and devices section and goes by user name in the user description field.  I am not convinced that this is accurate, as I have other phones listed that are not in the dial by name directory and most of the other branches are not listed either.  It is possible our controllers are networked as that sounds familiar, but we have no branch phantoms setup that I have found or know about.

It sounds as though the people calling in are on the "Main Branch Controller" and you don't have mailboxes or extension IDs for all employees on that controller; not a centralized VM.

Correct.

The fastest thing you can do is setup a Directory Menu that allows callers to select another Site [MiVO-250] and use that Dial-by-Name Directory.
OR
You could Centralize your VM to the Main Branch and have all of your mailboxes there.

People calling in will have no idea what branch staff is at, so I think that option is not the best idea.  So.....is there an easy way to move all mailboxes to one controller?  Do I need to move all users to the main controller as well or just the mailboxes?   This is sounding like I shouldn't have been sold 4 separate controllers...

I am trying to understand the process for setting up dial by name.

We have 4 locations with controllers at each location and users w/mailboxes at each location.
By default, it only appears that the main branch controller mailboxes are listed in the dial by name directory.

Is there a way to link all controllers to the dial by name directory or what steps am I supposed to be completing?

thank you for this information

Are there security concerns to this at all?

Example:  voicemail with no pin, backdoor into system to make long distance calls, etc

6
I recently discovered that a conference call access code is (by default??) setup active for any extension.  SO my security questions are:

  • Can this be disabled so a passcode must be created by a user?
  • Can codes be set to auto expire so they don;t linger active forever?

Mitel 5000 and Phone Manager.  I have normal calls forwarded, but when a user signs in as an agent those calls still ring to the desk phone

I Have 4 Mitel 5000 controllers and 1 MOAS running phone manager.
For whatever reason the MOAS lost it's ip address and now that that's been fixed, none of the branches extensions are listed-only the main branch where the MOAS resides is listed.  Support techs cannot find anything wrong yet.  All my desk phones are locked at the last phone manager status.

1) any ideas to get the extension back
2)any ideas how to override the phone manager status to get my desk phones back working?

Our phone manager server is offline and any phone that has a send calls to vm status is not receiving calls.
Is there a way to override that so we can get calls?

Mitel Software Applications / Phone Manager Status Options are missing
« on: January 07, 2020, 02:16:12 PM »
I setup a new desk and this user doesn't have any status options via phone manager.  Everything else is active, but there isn't even a section for status.
What did I miss with the setup?  I cannot see any difference between users.

Thank you!  I was not looking in the right section.  I found it now.
Sorry - and thank you both!

How do I add new ones?  I right-click and am presented with a short list of extensions.   Most of them are already included as agents.

Sorry - I'm not exactly sure how to describe my issue.

I do have users that move and I already have some IDs setup.
The issue is that when I go to add a Agent inside of the Hunt Group, I am only presented with ACD Agent ID or ACD Agent ID Ext List.
Inside the ACD Agent ID, is a short list of extensions.   Most of them are already included as agents.

How can I add more to the ACD Agent ID list?

How do I add an extension to be available to select to be added to a hunt group as as agent?
