MiVoice Office 250/Mitel 5000 / Help with Secondary Extension Key
« on: August 02, 2016, 04:04:03 PM »
In the multiple years I've taken care of this system, I haven't had to program much of anything.  Now I need some help and Mitel has a 5 day wait for help.

CEO is going out for a week x2901
CEO's assistant is also going out for part of that time x2902
CEO's assistant has Programmable Key 3 set as a Secondary Extension Key for 2901 Ring when "1"

Different assistant x2909 has been volunteered to receive CEO's calls in the same way (if I can't figure this out, we'll just forward the darn thing).
Different assistant has Prog Key 2 available, so I set it to Secondary Extension Key for 2901 Ring when "1"

I call 2901 from my cell (full number) and Different Assistant gets no sound from her desktop phone.  CEO's assistant still does.  How do I get the Different assistant's phone to ring so she can pick up the phone?

Thanks.

After YEARS of talking about going to Office 365, we are finally migrating our mailboxes in about a week.  With that will come Skype for Business.

Here are a few links I've found for piecing this all together.  First, I finally found the link to download the MitelMiVoiceforLync.msi

Since the micollab client is located here on your MAS:

https://mas-server/ucs/dl/UnifiedCommunicatorAdvanced.msi

The Lync plugin is located here:

https://mas-server/ucs/dl/MitelMiVoiceForLync.msi

Whether this works with Skype rather than Lync - I don't know.  We're only on 365 Proplus at the moment and we'll be upgrading to enterprise in a week.  I ran the msi file for fun, and it said I didn't have Lync installed.  I do have Skype for business installed - but it's in no way active yet.  It's installed as part of ProPlus - but not active yet because we haven't migrated to all of the 365 services.

There is a good blog post about the integration here:

https://gshaw0.wordpress.com/2015/05/07/lyncing-up-mitel-voip/

and the youtube video it references is here:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eTL0b9dDVuI

One of the concerns I have is that we do not have MAS sync'd with Active Directory.  The blog post above implies it's necessary.  Is it?  And if so, has anyone gone from a stand-alone MAS installation to a MAS where the users are sync'd with AD?  That sounds like a mess!

Thanks for any further feedback you can provide.

Mitel Software Applications / MiCollab conflict with Office 2016
« on: October 13, 2015, 11:31:19 AM »
I recently upgraded to Office 365 / 2016.  When MiCollab Client logs in, an error displays:  “The operating system is not presently configured to run this application”

I have uninstalled/reinstalled Office 365 as well as the MiCollab Client.  This does not happen on every machine I’ve done this on - which is good because that would be a disaster and prevent a 365 rollout.  But I would like to know how to eliminate the error, if possible.

Any thoughts?  I may need to uninstall my Visio 2010 presence, and possibly try a new Outlook profile if this is connected to Outlook somehow.

Mitel Software Applications / Two new MiCollab Clients?
« on: October 05, 2015, 12:52:56 PM »
The Android Play Store has two new Android Clients with the same name.  The grey icon'd one is the latest UCA upgrade.  The new Blue one requires an "authorization code" so I'm not sure if it can be used with our present MiCollab server.

Anyone know about these new apps?

Mitel Software Applications / Just upgraded to Windows 10 at home and...
« on: August 24, 2015, 07:27:55 AM »
MiCollab fired right up and connected fine.  This was the standard Windows 10 download upgrade in place.  So, MiCollab was already running on my Win 7 x64 setup.

Nothing more to report.

MiVoice Office 250/Mitel 5000 / Forwarded call drops after 10 minutes
« on: August 12, 2015, 02:17:30 PM »
I have a staff person who forwards his phone to his mobile.  At this time, I don't know if this is a straight forward, or a "twinning" using DEE.

When he answers a forwarded call and the call goes for more than 10 minutes, the call drops.  This is happening repeatedly for him.  I've not seen this before, but I don't think most, if any, of my fowarded calls go that long.

Can someone direct me as to where I should be changing settings to correct this issue?

First part of question:

If I dial my full phone number from outside the office, it's fairly consistent in ringing between 4-5 times and going to VM.  This seems acceptable.

If I dial my extension from another phone internally - it rings (with an internal ring) about 10-12 times before going to VM.

That 10-12 times seems much much longer than the 4-5 times from external.  Even though the internal ring sound I'm hearing is different.

Can that internal ring time to VM be changed independently of the external ring time?

Second part of question:

If I manually forward a phone of someone who just left the company - to another extension, and no one is there, it just rings and rings and nobody's VM picks up.  My workaround for this is to forward the phone to VM instead of another person - and then just deliver the VM message file to the email box of the other person.

I'm an end user admin - and this is the stuff I find the hardest about the 5000.  I'm sure it's fixable, I'm just not sure if I can do it without help from Mitel.

Thanks for your suggestions.

Mitel Software Applications / New MiCollab Version
« on: July 13, 2015, 08:05:27 AM »
FYI, I upgraded our MiCollab Service over the weekend which resulted in a push of a new MiCollab client this morning when I started up.

MiCollab Client Service    v6.0.509.0

I was hoping that it would solve the problem of directory pictures not displaying that was introduced in the last version, but it still happens.

Mitel Software Applications / MAS / AD Integration
« on: July 10, 2015, 09:20:03 AM »
Just looked at a good discussion here from 2 years ago

http://mitelforums.com/forum/index.php?topic=3734.msg16154#msg16154

Has anyone been doing AD Integration since then?

As I ponder a move to Office 365 and Lync and Integrating Lync with MiCollab - wouldn't it make sense to have ONE directory with all of the pertinent contact info?

Mitel Software Applications / Lync 365 and MiCollab
« on: June 29, 2015, 09:24:46 AM »
Hopefully, this isn't too arcane of a question.  We are not a Lync shop at this time.  We are a MiCollab shop (on premise 5000 and on premise MAS) when it comes to Instant Messaging and presence.

I am thinking about upgrading our aging Office 2010 Suite to Office 2013 via the Office 365 route.  First with just the ProPlus 365 route, but ultimately with the full Enterprise Office 365 including Lync.

While I am a fan of MiCollab - I even upload staff pictures for the directory - user adoption is sparse.  I am predicting a better adoption of IM tools if I switch to Lync.

My impression of previous integration between Lync and Mitel was that it was based on an on-premise Microsoft Communicator/Lync server.  Lync via Office 365 is probably just different enough to be an issue.   So, has anyone worked with Lync on 365 and UCA/MiCollab?

BTW, here is a good discussion on Spiceworks:

and a Mitel PDF

I'm finding that a lot of staff are either intentionally, or unintentionally, taking their MiCollab / UCA agent out of their startup folder.  However, that is now my go-to app for desktop sharing.  it's just so easy to start a web sharing conference when you are already talking to the person.

Has anyone used an Active Directory GPO or some other script to keep the Mitel Client in the Windows Startup folder?  if so, what worked best for you?

Thanks.

We recently upgraded our UCA to MiCollab 6.0.507.0

I noticed on a number of clients that the pictures I upload to the server of staff don't display anymore.  Actually, the top pictures at the top of the list DO display.  But once you scroll down past the initially visible list, the pictures disappear and just a grey generic symbol appears.

I would guess there is some kind of memory management problem for this to occur, but earlier versions didn't have this issue.

Anyone encountered this or have a fix?

Mitel Software Applications / MultiTech Fax Server
« on: May 21, 2015, 08:06:13 AM »
We have an Older MultiTech FF430 hooked into our Mitel 5000 serving as a fax server - which I have heard is common among Mitel Customers.

The problem we had was that every time we lost power (planned or unplanned) the unit would come back up without Ethernet connectivity - and would require an unplug/replug.

Working with MultiTech support, we finally narrowed it down to setting a fixed port speed of 100M Full Duplex (no auto anything) on both the server and the switch.  However, to do this on the server required a Putty SSH connection to the MultiTech since the web interface offered no options on port speed.  No way anyone would have known this without engaging their support.

mii-tool gives you your connections and allows you to change the settings.

        # mii-tool
   eth0: negotiated 100baseTx-FD, link ok
   eth1: negotiated 100baseTx-FD, link ok
   #

   # mii-tool -F 100baseTx-FD
   # mii-tool
eth0: 100 Mbit, full duplex, link ok
eth1: 100 Mbit, full duplex, link ok
   #

I rebooted the server 4 times after this setting, and it connected to our switch every time.  Again, you have to have these settings on both the Fax Server and the switch port that the server is connected to.

Hope this helps anyone dealing with a similar issue.

I have a conference phone that I'm going to convert from analog back to one of my InterTel digital phones.  I want to keep the number the same.

This seems like such a basic thing, but I haven't played with this for a long time.  Ive looked at the phones section of the Mitel System DB Admin for the 5000 and it doesn't seem like you can just "convert" the line this way.

Rather, is the correct procedure to just delete the phone altogether and then add the number back as a digital line?

Thanks.

We're running MAS with UC and AWC (that's what it used to be called) blades as a virtual machine.  We've waited long enough and it's time to upgrade MAS from 5 to 6.  With that will probably be the latest iteration of UCA - probably with the MiCollab branding.

I'm looking for info as to what to expect.  Will the new UCA just roll out automatically from the MAS?  Is there a way to control the update and push it out via Active Directory / GPO ?  I suspect since the current UCA 6.0.220.0 is already installed on all of our desktops and laptops, it will automatically download the new client at the startup of Windows.  However, it would be great to know what others have experienced.
