Mitel MiVoice Business/MCD/3300 / External Hot Desk Usage
« on: April 13, 2017, 01:14:52 PM »
Can you use an External Hot desk license as a regular phone license?

My understanding of hot desk is that a user can "login" and "logout" of a phone, is that correct?

Thanks guys,

Ian

Mitel MiVoice Business/MCD/3300 / MPA, MiCollab: I have some questions
« on: September 13, 2016, 05:52:40 PM »
Hey guys,

I am researching using an on-premise MPA Plus solution for our Mitel equipment.  I looked at using MiCollab, but I was told by one of my vendors that MiCollab is being phased out for MPA Plus.  Does anyone use these products?  Any feedback?

Thanks guys

Mitel MiVoice Business/MCD/3300 / Different User Views
« on: August 30, 2016, 10:41:00 AM »
Can you set up a user "View" (I am a Cisco Network Tech by trade, on the routers and switches you can have "Views" which is a set of permissions for a user) that locks things down on the GUI of the 3300 so a Tier 1 tech can check things out without breaking it?

Mitel MiVoice Business/MCD/3300 / I'm on the Phone Light for Mitel
« on: August 29, 2016, 07:52:50 PM »
Hey Gents,

our Corporate office uses Shoretel and most of us have a Plantronics DECT headset.  The headset comes with a 3.5mm jack to plug a microphone into (the microphone sits over the speaker of the phone and can notify you if your phone is ringing when your not at the desk.).  Another use for this jack is for an eggplant covered, egg shaped device that lights up with red LED's when your on a call.  Is there something like that for a Mitel phone?

Mitel MiVoice Business/MCD/3300 / Mitel IP Setup
« on: August 15, 2016, 01:50:50 PM »
Hello Gents,

I am setting up a new Mitel 3300 install and have a question about the Voice vLAN field in the IP config form.  Our voice vlan is vLAN 2, and when you tell that to the 3300, it refuses to pass traffic, but if you set it to our data vLAN, it passes traffic.  Anyone have any ideas what is going on here?

Mitel MiVoice Business/MCD/3300 / Benefits of Clustering
« on: July 12, 2016, 12:23:54 PM »
All,

I have a bunch of 3300 ICP's spread around the Pacific NW.  They are not clustered currently, but what is the benefit of clustering?

Also is it practical to get a copy of the 3300 software, and then make it a VM, and then cluster it with other sites?  Or do I need to get an actual MX or CX chassis?

Thanks

Mitel MiVoice Business/MCD/3300 / DHCP Configuration
« on: June 14, 2016, 11:29:25 AM »
We are migrating our DHCP Service from routers to servers, and we are also slowly installing our Mitel 3300's at some of the sites.  As I build out the scopes I know i need Opt 43, and several local techs here in SW Washington/Oregon suggest to put in Opt 128, 129, 130.  My boss feels that is overkill, since he has been told that the Mitel phones only need Opt 43 and it deals with the patch level of the phone.

Any thoughts, suggestions, recommendations?
