Hi,
We have two sites, a Mitel 5000 at each. The main site uses a certain extension for the conference bridge. Each user uses their extension as their access code. This works fine.

At the second site, the users can't seem to use their own extensions to start a conference. They are attempting to use the same bridge as the main location. What is the proper way to have everyone using the same extension for the conference bridge?

As the subject line says, does anyone know of a way to have a user's keys copied over to another phone system? I have a user who has a phone in location A, and a second desk phone in location B. Each location has its own Mitel 5000 Server and they are networked together (i can see location B through the location A system). I cannot see a way to export the config, and I can copy the phone but cannot paste to an off-node device.

MiVoice Office 250/Mitel 5000 / Hunt Group "Busy"

Hi,

I have a hunt group set up that has a single 5320 phone in it. The only reason for the group to exist is so I can have different name appear on other phones than the actual username of the phone inside the group. i.e., I want "Security" to appear on all the other phones instead of "Bob S.".

The problem is that the hunt group is apparently "busy" at all times. The key on the phones around the building is constantly solid orange, and if we use the key to dial the extension, we receive the busy signal and message on the phone. This happens regardless of whether or not the phone inside the hunt group is busy or free. I have this set up the same way at another site and it works fine. Also, it used to work fine at this site.

Any thoughts as to what I could be missing?

Hi,

We would like to use our Mitel 5000 to play some music on hold but utilizing a the music on hold port on the back of the phone server. From my understanding, we need a license to be added to the system for this option to become available. Can anyone advise as to what needs to be done for this to work?

MiVoice Office 250/Mitel 5000 / Conference Options

The president of our company would like a conference phone set up on his desk, as speaker phone isn't quite loud enough for him when other employees sit in on calls. He currently uses a 5360 with a cordless module installed. We don't want him to lose the cordless phone.... are there any options other than losing the cordless phone in favor of a 5310 conference module? I have seen this unit:

But, since there is no handset with that unit, this would have to be a second phone on his desk, with a second number, which might not be the best solution.

MiVoice Office 250/Mitel 5000 / Scheduled Backups

Hello,

I am currently trying to schedule backups of a Mitel 5000 to an onsite file server using the "Everything to a PC" option. For the folder, I'm using a UNC path such as "\\servername\path". I've gone through the tabs on the backup screen and filled in the appropriate information and, when finished, completed a test. The test finishes normally and creates the backup file in the correct path on the server and I receive a confirmation email. The problem is that when the scheduled backup is supposed to kick off, nothing happens. I don't receive a failure message or a success message, and no backup is created. Does anyone have any ideas as to what could be the problem? Does the computer (my laptop) with Mitel System Administration & Diagnostics have to be on and running for the backup to occur?

Hi,

Monday morning, i attempted to open up a programming session as always, and received the following message (attached is a snip of the message):

"The database engine could not be opened. Reinstall Mitel System Administration & Diagnostics. If this problem persists, contact Technical Support"

No changes were made to the system prior to receiving this message. I tried reinstalling the software but receive the same message, even during installation. I installed the software on another computer using the same install file, and it works just fine, so obviously the issue is just with my laptop. Any ideas how i can fix this?

Hi,

I have a couple of users who have dynamic extension set up with their iPhone 6….When a call is kicked from their desk to their cell phone and they answer it, an audio recording gives them options to accept the call by pressing #, or send the call to voicemail my pressing *. Judging by the sound of the recording’s voice, it is the Mitel system giving them the choice to pick up or send to voicemail. All the other users can just answer the call as they do with any other call to their cell phone. Is there a way to make this stop happening?

MiVoice Office 250/Mitel 5000 / T1/E1 Module # 1 Port #001 In Red Alarm

Hi Everyone,

We have two Mitel 5000 systems that keep giving the error in the subject line. I can't seem to find too much info as to what it actually means. It looks like the system is automatically clearing the error when it occurs, which i thought was strange. The system says the severity of the error is "Major".

We are experiencing poor call quality at times on one of the systems as well.

Hi all,

I’m having an issue with one of our phones. The problems started when someone informed me that they could not hear the other party when on the phone. The person they were calling could hear them, but they could not hear anything from the destination. I first swapped the phone's handset out, which did not resolve the problem. I then plugged the problem phone into a different network cable known to be good, which also did not solve the problem. I then plugged a known-good phone into the problem phone's network cable, and it worked just fine. I concluded that the problem must be the phone’s hardware, so I went into programming and switched the problem phone's MAC address over to a brand new phone's MAC address. After the brand new phone booted up with the old phone’s configuration, the same issue was still occurring – the recipient can hear me, but I cannot hear them. I then copied the configuration of a known-good phone in programming, hoping there was a flag or something else I missed, but no luck.

Also, we get an insufficient bandwidth alarm somewhat frequently indicating that the problem extension received insufficient bandwidth. This usually happens immediately following a page.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Everyone,

I have some phones in close proximity to speakers in a warehouse environment. When equipment is running, the environment is pretty loud so the volume needs to be high on the speakers. If someone picks one of those phones up and tries to page, they receive horrible feedback. Short term i will just remove the page keys from those phones, but my question is- is there a way to delay the page? So you could pick the phone up, make your page, hang up, and then the page would go through...

Any help would be great!

MiVoice Office 250/Mitel 5000 / Page Zones Between Branches

Hi Everyone,

I have a question about paging.

What is the best way to set up paging between the two systems? The reason I’m asking is I’ve noticed that you cannot put an off node page zone directly on a key map through DB Programming. For example, if I make a page zone called “Page Site 1” on the Site 1 system, I cannot add the page zone to the key maps on the Site 2 system. What this lead me to do was to create another page zone in Site 2 that includes the page zone created in Site 1. Is this the best way to set the system up? I have also noticed that if I go up to an actual phone in Site 2 and add the Site 1 page zone to an available key on the phone, I can add the off node page zone that way.

I am troubleshooting some inconsistent paging in Site 1. It seems like when paging from Site 2 to Site 1, the voice will break up sometimes.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

MiVoice Office 250/Mitel 5000 / Phone Licenses

Hi Everyone,

Is there an easy way to see how many (and what kind of) licenses are applied to your system?
The person who purchased our system bought a few cases of 5320 phones and a couple single  5330 phones. We havent used all the 5320s.
I need to purchase a couple more 5330s, but am wondering if i need the licenses our re-seller is bundling with them.

MiVoice Office 250/Mitel 5000 / Ring Over Page?

Hi Everyone,

I have a couple of door phones. Right now, they are set to house phones. So when we have a delivery or visitor, they lift the phone, and a hunt group is automatically dialed. I am wondering how I can have these phones ring over our paging system as well? Sometimes when our production rooms are loud, the employees don't hear the phones. This is not ideal for when there is no one in the office.

Our older Nortel system does this, so I am hoping the Mitel phone system can do it too.

Hello everyone,

I am programming some new phones. For some reason, every time I call one of them, on the phone I am calling from it says "IC to*number/user name*". Another phone I programmed on the same day reacts normally...when I dial the number, my phone shows "Call Routing for *number/user name*. When I dial the number of the problem phone and see the IC message, maybe a second or two goes by and the problem phone picks up automatically, and I can speak through my phone and it comes out the problem phone. It is acting as an intercom....and I cannot seems to figure out how to make it stop acting that way.

Any thoughts would be GREATLY appreciated. I am thinking it is something pretty simple but I cannot seem to figure out what I'm missing.
