Mitel MiVoice Business/MCD/3300 / MiVCR - Way to Offload Recordings?
« on: September 23, 2021, 01:43:45 PM »
Hello Fellow Mitel Engineer's,
It has been far too long since I've been on here. back in 2018 I got out of the field and took a Sales Engineer position. (Supporting our sales in the selling of Mitel hosted cloud products)

A question came up, whereby a customer is unfortunately leaving us and they have the MiVCR. They are looking for a way to off load ALL of their call recordings.

Someone from our engineering team suggested that it is possible to have them exported to a SQL database, but then my question is if all the recordings are offloaded to some central storage can the recordings be categorized or easily referenced? (e.g. Name Date, Phone Number, Ext Number, etc.)

Funny, how just being out of the field for a few years makes those perishable skills deteriorate.

Thanks guys,

Mitel MiVoice Business/MCD/3300 / Mitel 6970 - Hotdesk
« on: November 12, 2019, 01:24:19 PM »
Hello Fellow Mitel Techs!
I just got my hands on the Mitel 6970 for the 1st time. We have it setup so that it uses Hotdesking, which is a cool feature and something that the UC360 cannot do. However I notice that EVERY time I end a call, I get a window that pops up and says:

"You are currently logged in to Hotdesk. Would you like to remain logged in?"
...and then it give two options you can touch "Keep Me Logged In" or "Log Out".

(It should also be noted that if you don't select an option that it simply logs you out.)

.....this is slightly annoying that this happens every time you end a call. Does anyone know of a way to disable this?

Thanks,
-Iron

Mitel MiVoice Business/MCD/3300 / ITAR Compliance
« on: July 03, 2019, 11:52:13 AM »
Hello fellow Mitel techs,
I'm sure we've all heard of HIPPA, SOX, PCI compliance. but here's a new one. ITAR Compliance. Does anyone know if Mitel is ITAR Compliant. or if they should be? Here is a link to an article on what ITAR is:
https://thereceptionist.com/blog/itar-compliance-what-it-is-who-needs-it-and-the-penalties-for-ignoring-it/

ITAR = International Traffic Arms Regulations

I'm just not sure how a Unified Communications platform or phone system would need this kind of compliancy.

Thoughts on this?

Thanks,

Mitel MiVoice Business/MCD/3300 / Mitel 53xx Series Phones - Question
« on: June 13, 2019, 12:41:07 PM »
Hello Fellow Mitel Techs,
I have a question on the 53xx series IP Phones. Apparently one of our Sales people had heard that if the 53xx IP Phone was configured with the proper hardware and if it failed that it could still route calls over an analog POTS line.

I have heard of an analog adapter that you can install on it so that analog devices could have connectivity through it. But never heard of a POTS line through a 53xx that it could use as a type of emergency outbound access.

Any info on this is appreciated.

Thanks,

Hello fellow Mitel techs,
Just wanted to get your thought on which phone is more durable?
1) Mitel's 112 SIP DECT
2) Mitel's 5624 Wi-Fi

Cost wise I know there is a big difference, but in terms of durability, what are your thoughts.

Thanks,

Mitel MiVoice Business/MCD/3300 / Mitel Phone Demo Kit Box
« on: March 18, 2019, 02:28:36 PM »
Hello Fellow Mitel techs,
I recently transitioned from the UC Voice Engineer into a new role (UC Sales Engineer). After about 12 years of in the field I decided to get more into the technical end of the sales side. I acquired a demo kit that includes a 6940, 6930, 6920, 5304, 5624 as well as the UC360. The case that I have is really beat up and frankly embarrassing to take out to potential customer locations. Can anyone recommend me a nice demo kit box? Preferably something that rolls. Thanks in advance for any/all suggestions?

Thanks,
-Iron

Hello Mitel Techs,
Do we know what are the Mitel 3300 System requirements (System software revision) that need to be met to support this phone?

Thanks,
-Iron

(Also would like to know system requirements on the Mitel 5000 too)

Hello Fellow Mitel Techs,

Mitel MiVoice Business/MCD/3300 / Mitel 5624 - Wi-Fi
« on: December 06, 2018, 10:31:39 AM »
Hello Fellow Mitel Techs,
I'll be at a convention today and presenting the Mitel 5624. I was curious how you go about connecting it to a Wi-Fi SSID that needs a browser interface to enter in the password? if it cannot be done I can use my Wi-Fi Hotspot off my mobile phone.

Thanks,

Mitel MiVoice Business/MCD/3300 / Mitel 5624 - Entering in Text (Uppercase)
« on: December 03, 2018, 06:52:44 PM »
Hello Fellow Mitel Techs,
I was curious if anyone knew how to enter in uppercase letters on the Mitel 5624? I'm trying to enter in a password but am unable to figure out how that is done directly from the Mitel 5624. The very first letter is uppercase, which is fine cause that's what comes up, but there are uppercase letters in the password too. but when you type them in via the phone they come up as lowercase letters.

Thanks,
-Iron

Hello Fellow Mitel 5000 Techs,
I just wanted to verify that the Mitel 5000 (MiVoice Office 250) has a limit of 20 Analog POTs it can take? The 4 LS ports onboard the chassis and then the 4 LSM-4's you'd need to get (Total 20). I've looked and it doesn't look like the DEI's support LSM's. It's been so long since I've had to deal with POT's on a 5000. But I think that's right.

Thanks,

Hello Fellow Mitel Techs,
I was curious if anyone ran across this. We use NuPoint and have our network tech do an on-call rotation. One user while logged into the VM box went through the prompts and got his info (Cell Number) entered in, got an On-Call but when the NuPoint called him and asked for the Passcode, he entered it and......nothing. (His phone is an iPhone 8 and his Carrier is Verizon). I tested the next morning with my mobile phone (iPhone 6s Plus and T-Mobile) and it tested out just fine for me., I was able to enter in the passcode and hit the prompts to listen and delete messages.

At this point I think it is a DTMF thing with the carrier. What are your guys' thoughts?

Thanks,
-Iron

MiVoice Office 250/Mitel 5000 / Mitel 5000 Upgrading
« on: May 07, 2018, 05:26:38 PM »
Hello Fellow Mitel 5000 Techs,
I was wondering if anyone here could tell me if there are any repercussions in upgrading an older Mitel 5000 (Ver. 3.2.4.60) to the latest and greatest? Aside from the obvious of doing a backup, conversion and restore. Do I need software assurance, etc.?

Thanks,
-Iron
