Mitel Software Applications / Scheduled Task to Restart Advanced UM

The customer has an in-house MiCollab with NuPoint.

Every time they restart their Exchange environment, we have to do a restart of the Advanced UM services to re-establish Voicemail to email.

Is there the possibility of a cron job or something to restart the Advanced UM at a specific time every morning? Just trying to think of something to stop from having to remote in to do it, only have they've noticed that its stopped working.

Mitel Software Applications / ACD Call Classification

Looking for any recommendations on ways to classify and track ACD call types. Customer has a smaller ACD setup (12 agents), with no tie-in to their CRM system.

Was thinking of using call Tagging, but I'm not seeing a way to tally/report on those tags within MiContact Center Business at all.

Anyone else got ideas other than pen and paper?

Mitel Software Applications / MiCollab NextGen on PC Softphone

For the life of me I can not find any instructions on setting this up.

For select users, along with their deskphone, we want to provide them with a Softphone. If someone has instructions for both the MCD and MiCollab Server side, I'd appreciate it.

Not doing anything through MBG or anything fancy like that.

Mitel MiVoice Business/MCD/3300 / Close VNC Port on EX Controller

Network scans are showing port 5091, commonly used for VNC, open on all three EX controllers that we have. I'm able to successfully connect on that port number, via telnet, to the management IP of the controllers.

Anyone have any idea on how to shut that down/close the port? I don't see any documentation that it should be open or is used by anything.

Mitel MiVoice Business/MCD/3300 / MWI of Remote DN

I've been out of practice, so forgive me if this is almost a noob question....

Can you not do an MWI of a remote DN when you have clustered controllers? I thought you could...

When I try I'm told the number is in use elsewhere.

Mitel MiVoice Business/MCD/3300 / Remote Hold Retrieve of ACD Call

My call center people are telling me that this has stopped working. They dial the FAC of **1 and the extension who's held call they want to pickup, and nothing. They claim this was working previously.

This is hotdesk ACD, so I check the COS of the base phone, as well as the Hotdesk extension, and it's enabled in both. When I test myself in non-ACD, it works perfectly.

Anyone have any insights?

Mitel Software Applications / MiCollab Client Update Administrative Privilages

We're trying something new with our Windows 10 machines and trying not to set users to be local Administrators on them.

Today when the MiCollab client started wanted to update for everyone, the Windows 10 users are being denied because it says they need "Administrative Privilages."

Is this just full rights to folders? Because that I can do via GPO.

Otherwise how is everyone else handling this?

Mitel Software Applications / MiCollab Client License Usage

Is there a way to pull a list of all the user accounts that are set to use a specific MiCollab client License Profile?

If I look at the License profiles, it will give me a count, but I need to audit this and make sure all those that are licensed, should be, and I can't seem to find a way to do this. (Or at least do it easily without having to look at every profile.)

Anyone have any suggestions?

Mitel MiVoice Business/MCD/3300 / Securing New 6930 and 6940 Phones

I plan on opening this with Mitel as well, but thought I'd see if this community had any ideas.

With the new 6930 and 6940 phones having the built-in bluetooth and USB ports, we are wanting to be clear in any security issues these may posses.

With the fear being that the USB might allow a USB device to impact the phone, the network, or something via either one. And the same for the bluetooth.


Anyone have any thoughts on this?

Mitel MiVoice Business/MCD/3300 / Traditional ACD vs. HotDesk ACD

So we in the process of testing the new 6930 and 6940 phones.

One thing we hadn't realized is that they are not compatible with traditional ACD, which we have a decent sized ACD group.

Mitel stated that they do not plan to support Traditional ACD with these phones (ever), as HotDesk ACD is now the preferred method.

Before I start testing HotDesk ACD and trying to find pro's and con's, I wanted to see if anyone else has changed ACD types before and what their thoughts were.

Mitel MiVoice Business/MCD/3300 / Temp Greeting Lasting Full 24 Hours Instead of Turning Off at Midnight

I've now had several users complain, and I was able to verify, that temp voicemail greetings are not turing off just after Midnight if the user sets it for 1 day like they should. Instead they're lasting a full 24 hours.

So if I set a temp greeting at 4pm Tuesday, for 1 day. It didn't change back to my normal greeting till after 4pm Wednesday.

Anyone seen anything similar?
System is an MXe, running version 13.2.0.17.

Is anyone out there using NuPoint Line Groups with Call Directors setup on them for RAD messages? Any advantage or disadvantage over using embedded vmail for RADs?

Mitel MiVoice Business/MCD/3300 / Wireless Module Detection Issue

I have a customer who recently purchased a Bluetooth module. The part number, and serial number confirm that it is indeed supposed to be bluetooth.

However, any phone that they put the module it, it gets detected as a DECT module.

Site is running software version 13.2.0.17.

Anyone seen anything similar?

We were notified today about a vulnerability with the glibc library in linux that exposes the server to remote take-over via DNS.

Luckily, Mitel has already released a patch for MSL 10. I've included the information below for those with access to MOL.

CVE-2015-7547 raised the need to update the Glibc packages in MSL.

This script supports patching of 32-bit and 64-bit MSL 10.x releases.
MSL releases 8.x and 9.x are unaffected by the vulnerability.

This patch requires a maintenance window to perform a reboot to ensure affected services using glibc are restarted. The script will prompt you to reboot upon successful completion
