Got a small CX-II system with just a handful of mailboxes on embedded voice mail. After hours call comes in, hits the primary greeting, then the caller can leave a message that should go to the Operator mailbox and light an MWI. I see the message files in /vmail/d/vm/grp/0, but the mailbox doesn't see that there's a new unplayed message, either in ESM or by logging in via TUI. Normally I'd delete the mailbox and re-create it, but it's 0 so the system won't let me do that. Any ideas? Only other option I can think of is to dial in as admin and delete and recreate the entire EMEM system. No active SWA, so I can't raise a ticket.

SIP On Mitel / Alarm lines on ATA's
« on: January 26, 2024, 12:05:07 PM »
Anyone here successfully got alarm lines working via an ATA? I'm trying to get a Simplex panel to play nice via a Grandstream HT818 on a MiVB rel. 10.0.0.76. The calls out from the panel to the monitoring station are completing, but the alarm company tells me they're not communicating. I've played around with DTMF methods and echo cancellation settings, but not finding a combination of settings that works. Fax machines and analog phones on the same ATA are working fine.

Mitel Software Applications / MiCollab w/ IDS - limit search to a group?
« on: November 30, 2023, 12:21:16 PM »
Anyone know how to limit MiCollab IDS integration to a specific group rather than an entire OU? I'm assuming I should be able to use the "Default Query String" field to limit the search to a group rather than the whole OU, but I have no idea how to format the query. The "Search Context" field is limited to an OU so I can't get more specific there.

My goal is to limit the IDS sync to my "MiCollab Users" AD group of 150 members, rather than my "Active Users" OU of 2000 members.

Mitel MiVoice Business/MCD/3300 / Lock/unlock a phone from another phone
« on: October 27, 2023, 12:43:20 PM »
Got an application for a mental health treatment center that I'm not sure how to accomplish. They need a courtesy phone for patients, but want to be able to enable/disable the phone from the staff phones in the treatment unit. Patient phone would be an analog phone fed from an Audicodes MP-118 ATA, and the staff phones will be 5300 or 6900 sets (I have both on hand). Any ideas?

A bit more detail on the use case:
  • Patient phone will not take direct incoming calls, any inbound calls would be transferred from the staff phones.
  • Want to be able to restrict the patient phone from placing calls during specified time periods, so something like an account code wouldn't work, as those usually only apply to a single call.

SIP On Mitel / SIP Trunks, ATA's, and faxing through a MiVB
« on: August 21, 2023, 01:00:15 PM »
If I'm running fax machines on ATA's through a MiVB connecting to SIP trunks, do I only need to worry about the SIP trunk provider and the ATA both being able to support G.711 pass-thru and/or T.38, or does the MiVB come in to play at all? I currently have a gateway MXE-III terminating PRI's but eventually we'd like to go to SIP trunks. I have existing Audiocodes MP-11x units running several fax lines, wondering what I'd need to mess around with to get them working on SIP trunks.

Mitel MiVoice Business/MCD/3300 / DHCP Option 43
« on: June 05, 2023, 04:42:33 PM »
I can't for the life of me get DHCP option 43 working using a Windows 2019 server for either 5300 or 6900 series sets. Following the attached guide which I got from KMS, but the phones just aren't accepting the offer from the Windows DHCP server. Trying to migrate away from using an MXE-III controller as my DHCP server for 1700 phones, too many single points of failure on it. The Windows server is the DHCP server for everything but the VoIP subnets. I'm sure I'm missing something stupid,. but I can't figure out what.

Non-Mitel Chatter / eFax service
« on: April 17, 2023, 02:31:20 PM »
What's everyone using for eFax/hosted faxing these days? I've currently got about 100 fax lines at about a dozen locations running on a combination of Centrex lines, an EOL FaxFinder, and even a handful running on ATA's. Looking to get rid of the FaxFinder and the Centrex lines. Most of the machines are Sharp MX series MFD's, but I know I have a few ancient fax-only machines out that that will need to connect to an ATA or similar gateway device.

Mitel MiVoice Business/MCD/3300 / MOH on call ringing ring group
« on: March 31, 2023, 02:16:35 PM »
I have a department that wants callers that 0 out of their auto attendant to hear MOH instead of ringback. The 0 out destination is a Ring Group that rings non-prime appearances on 2 phones. I have a call coverage set against the Ring Group that sends the calls to a RAD and offers dial out of queue, but I can't figure out how to play MOH instead of ringback between the RAD messages. Any way to do that?

Non-Mitel Chatter / AVST/OpenText CX-E support
« on: November 30, 2022, 09:35:36 AM »
Can anyone recommend a support partner for an AVST/OpenText CX-E voice mail system? I need to upgrade the system I administer, and our current partner has been less than responsive.

Mitel Software Applications / MiCollab sync picking up extra MDUGs
« on: November 08, 2022, 04:58:46 PM »
So this is a strange one. MiCollab 9.4 working with a MiVB 9.2 cluster. I have a couple dozen users who use MiCollab mobile softphones for after hours on-call, but also have desk phones that are completely independent from MiCollab. One user's MiCollab account kept pulling in the MDUG for their desk phone, even though there's no MiCollab profile for the primary extension; the only thing that matched was the first and last name of the user. I could go into the account in MiCollab Client Service and delete the desk phone MDUG devices, but after the next PBX synch, they'd be back. Got around it by adding a "_" in the first name on the desk phone extension, but I can't for the life of me figure out why this was happening for just one user, and not the 15 others that have the exact same setup.

Mitel MiVoice Business/MCD/3300 / CPN on external forwards
« on: October 05, 2022, 10:25:10 AM »
I've got a clustered system with 2 vMiVB's and 3 MXE-III trunk gateways with PRI's on them. Some users want calls forwarded to external numbers to show the original calling party CPN, while some want the DNIS/DID number dialed sent. This can be changed on the PRI circuit level by enabling/disabling the "Replace External CLID" option in the ISDN Protocol form, but I need to be able to change this on a set level, not per PRI since different departments of the enterprise want different things. Anyone know of a way to do this?

Mitel MiVoice Business/MCD/3300 / MiVB Hunt Group default COS?
« on: September 08, 2022, 12:42:30 PM »
I took a new gig a few months ago an inherited a system with 100 hunt groups that don't have a COS assigned, and I need to assign one in order to make them resilient (why they weren't set up resilient on install, who knows). Most of the hunt groups either have no members (point to an auto attendant) or have non-prime Key System lines as members. I know if a hunt group has no COS defined, it will inherit the COS of the first member, but what COS is assigned if there are no members or the members are non-prime lines? Does it inherit COS 1 then? I can't remember and this isn't worth opening a ticket with my support partner to find out.

Mitel Software Applications / MiCollab/MBG - how to read tug.log data
« on: April 20, 2022, 05:20:19 PM »
Anyone have a guide on how to read the info in the tug.log file on an MBG/MiCollab server? Trying to chase down some packet loss and audio issues, KMS tells me all the info I'm looking for is in the tug.log file, but I can't find any info on how to actually extract the information I'm looking for.

MiVoice Office 250/Mitel 5000 / Remote phone network port testing
« on: March 23, 2022, 04:37:25 PM »
Is there a tool similar to the Teleworker Network Analyzer that I can use to verify the correct ports are open for a remote phone on a MiVoice Office 250? Having a finger pointing match with a network vendor on no-way audio for a remote phone, and struggling to find a way to prove my case that the UDP ports aren't open.

Mitel Software Applications / MiCollab 9.4 softphone - call park
« on: March 11, 2022, 08:41:05 AM »
New customer with 100% MiCollab softphone users on MiVB, needs to be able to park a call for another user to pick up. MiCollab softphone on MiVB does not support call park. Anyone know of another method to achieve a similar result?
