Mitel MiVoice Business/MCD/3300 / Mitel 3300 MXe iii RAID vrs SSD
« on: May 26, 2021, 02:42:55 AM »
Hi all
We have a Mitel 3300 MXe iii with RAID that one of the original Mitel Certified WD Scorpio Blue 160GB HDDs failed.
We replaced both drives with Kingston SSDs just off the shelf ones after advice from our Mitel vendor. The system has been up and running for some 6 months now.
A few weeks ago HD1 came up as bad and advice was to replace it so we sourced an exact same SSD.
I was instructed to hold the Mirror Cntrl Button down less than 5 sec to take the SSD offline which I did.
Much to my amazement the system did a "weird" thing and both drives came up good as gold - got the green tick of a health system.
Now HD2 has come up bad so of course I thought to run the same procedure on HD2 but of course there is no Mirror Cntrl Button for HD2.
The Mirror Cntrl Button on the HD1 side is of course the RAID Reset Button!
In THB on page 225 I can see:
"Note: To install two hard drives for RAID functionality, see “MXe III (Two Hard Drives)” on page 227. RAID is not available for solid state drives."
Question is - Have I been given the wrong advice and that using two SSDs with the RAID controller card is not a good thing?
The other question is, can I simply press the RAID Reset Button to clear the HD2 bad state?
Here is SHOW STATUS REDUNDANT:
SATA RAID Controller
Hard Disk Disk
Disk Installed Fault State Status
---- ----------- ----- ------- ------
1 Yes No Normal Match.
2 Yes Yes Bad Timeout.
Disk 1 id matches
