Hello all,

I regularly monitor the firewall at my office. We have a Mitel 250 with SIPs provided by our ISP, if that matters.

I regularly see outbound connection attempts from the phone system to IP addresses I don't recognize. Does anyone else recognize these? Is the phone system attempting to make legitimate connections?

OK, I'll wave the "I'm an idiot" flag.

Bad handset. I suppose that's what you get for buying used gear.

What did you do to fix it please?

Happy Friday everyone! Hoping the folks here can help me sort out everyone's favorite issue: one-way audio.

I have a Mitel 250 system with several older InterTel desk phones and two 5320 IP phones at remote sites. Those 5320s work fine and have worked fine sine we got the system a couple years ago.

I'm adding another 5320 and running into a one-way audio problem. I've stepped through every configuration parameter I can find in Session Manager programming for that phone/extension/NAT Address Type, etc. I've tried the phone remotely and within my office on the same network as the phone system itself.

I place an outgoing call to my cell to test. I can talk on my cell and hear it on the 5320. But not the other way. If I talk into the 5320, I do not hear it on my cell.

Thoughts on where to look next? Thank you and very much appreciated.

TE,

Just letting you know that after a little tinkering around, I was able to get this programmed perfectly.

Thank you!

Thanks for the info, TE.

Calls ring to a hunt group. Right now, the recall is set to "2503 Day Auto Attendant."

I assume that's what I change? If so, should it be changed to:

2501 Voice Mail

or

5000 (which is the mailbox where I want callers to end up)

Thanks. I've since opened a ticket with our provider and we're working on it.

MiVoice Office 250/Mitel 5000 / System voice mail dropping calls
« on: January 14, 2020, 09:59:49 AM »
Hello,

I've recently discovered that our Mitel 250 system will drop calls going to voicemail. Here's the scenario:

1. Someone calls us.

2. No one answers (no one in the office, etc.,)

3. After 4-5 rings, the system voice mail picks up the call.

4. Caller hears "Welcome to the Mitel voice messaging system" or similar wording.

5. The call is dropped.

Happens with 100 percent consistency.

I'd like calls to go to the system voicemail box, which on our setup is mailbox 5000. Can someone shed some light on how to fix this?

Thank you and very much appreciated!

We have a MiVoice 250 with four SIPs that generally works great. However, I've identified an issue where SOME incoming calls experience one-way audio (I can hear the incoming caller but they can't hear me). Most calls do not, and they work fine. Weirdly enough, it is 100 percent repeatable with specific incoming callers. For instance, when a lady at our accounting firm calls us, we can hear her but she cannot hear us. 100 percent of the time. But if I call her from our phone system, the call works fine.

Other incoming calls experience it as well but the calls are random enough I haven't nailed down a specific caller.

We do not have an MBG. Our SIPs are (I hope I'm getting the terminology correct) handed off to us via an Edgewater 4700 device located on-premises, and plugged directly into our fiber provider's router. The Edgewater is also provided by our fiber provider.

Any ideas where to look on this one? Much appreciated!!!

TE or others,

I want to make sure I'm in the right place. Is this in:

System>Devices and Feature Codes>Phones>extension number>Forwarding Paths>

Right now, there is 1 forwarding path listed which looks like:

Forwarding Path           Description
>1                              Voice Mail

Is that the forwarding path I delete?

Thank you again!

Thanks! I'll dig into it more on Monday.

OK, so I need to disable the System Forwarding flag for each extension.

Got it.

Will this still allow for setting up dynamic extension? I think that's what it is called where it'll ring both the desk phone and the cell phone.

Thank you!

MiVoice Office 250/Mitel 5000 / Call routing back to original answerer
« on: September 27, 2019, 02:52:19 PM »
Happy Friday everyone.

In our office, we prefer to NOT use voice mail. We want callers to always get a person.

How do I set up call routing so that if Jane Doe, extension 1010, answers an incoming call, transfers it to John Smith extension 1020, but if John Smith doesn't answer after XX seconds, the call rings back to Jane Doe?

That way, the caller doesn't get a voicemail. Instead, they get a person who picks it back up and says "It looks like John is away from his desk, what can I do for you?"

MiVoice Office 250/Mitel 5000 / CF card full
« on: July 23, 2019, 11:59:42 AM »
Hello everyone.

Somehow the 1G compact flash card on my Mitel 250 is full/nearly full. It's not voicemail files as we barely use our voice mail. I can't see any logs that are taking up space either. What could be filling it up, and how do I clear it out? I spoke briefly with my installer last week and haven't had a chance to follow up with him yet, but he made some mention of getting Mitel involved and used wording like "really deep inside the system" if that helps at all.

MiVoice Office 250/Mitel 5000 / System Alarm #21
« on: July 11, 2019, 10:27:36 AM »
Hello all.

The last few days I've been getting:

Sys Alarm #21
V-Mail 80% Full

showing up on my system. Mitel 250. I can clear the alarm and it goes away just fine until the next morning. However, I can't figure out what is generating it. Our voicemail usage is extremely rare, and when I look at DB programming, I see:

Total Storage on the system:  45 hours 4 minutes
Total Storage Used:  0 hours 6 minutes
Total Storage Remaining:  44 hours 58 minutes

So that's more like less than 1 percent used. Why would I be getting an 80% full warning? And what can I do to eliminate that?

Thank you very much!
