Hi All,

I don't recall the ins and outs of the language that is Dial Patterns and Route Groups etc.. All these Ns and +s and stuff - hopefully one of you good folk will be able to assist.  Please speak slowly and clearly, as I am also down with the wonderful symptoms of COVID19.

First, I set the scene.

The system is being installed into an annexe of an existing very large institution.  We are provided from them, one single PSTN line which is effectively an extension on THEIR PBX.  They also provide security / emergency response on-site.

So their "line" is our trunk group 92001.  We also have a direct provided PSTN line, TG92002.  And finally, we have SIP trunking on TG93001.  Our default outgoing is via SIP, as it's cheaper and presents our own CLID which they can't support.

Part of our agreement with our overlords states we MUST be able to dial THEIR Emergency Number directly.  Which is 2222.  Their extension range is 3000 - 5999.  Both these ranges are fully unoccupied in our Baselines, all Feature Codes have been moved from 3xx as well.

So ideally, I'd like for us to be able to dial 2222 directly as an emergency and route it via TG92001, and dial 3000-5999 the same, (but not an emergency).

I have added 2222 into the Emergency Numbers, but it's just showing invalid.  For some reason, and I don't recall doing anything, dialing 999 wants to route via our PSTN rather than 'Facilty' PSTN.

I would really really welcome some guidance, as I'm definitely floundering here.

Thank you :D

No - no extra licencing on this box I'm afraid... and no money to buy anything fancy either.

16 IP phones, 4 SIP Trunks - nothing else optional I don't think.

I'll just have the mailbox on the "main office" phone, and maybe look at just doing voicemail to email so it's delivered to the (shared) email account in the studios.

Unless there's any other better solution?

Cheers for the insight as ever!

Hi TE

It's a studio clock (which is a fullscreen Windows App) and it has various "lamps" which flash at particular events.  The screens are visible in each studio and in communal areas.

These are controlled either via contact closures, serial data, or IP data.  https://www.voceware.co.uk/products-vclock.aspx

As an example, when the presenter turns on their microphone, a data-packet is sent from the console which lights the "QUIET PLEASE" lamp.  A second command to turn it OFF is sent when the microphone is closed.

There is no desk-phone in the studio; only an audio-connection into the system through a converter.  (this will be connected to once of the analog ports).  We can use our existing strobe ringer to indicate ringing - I just thought I'd do something a little more advanced there was a datastream available on the system that was spewing out plaintext call logs or something.  I'm probably harkening back to the days before Mitel when there was a serial printer hanging off the back of the PBX printing every call made/received as the "log".....!

(The clock software can parse and ignore lots of data, and only react to / show what we specify)

I'm now thinking about whether I could use TAPI/CTI and a "bridge" to achieve what we need.

No big loss if we can't do it.  We'll just have a flashing strobe disco each time the studio phone rings! :D

And since I'm working on this rather than what I'm supposed to be doing - I have another quandry.

We have a need to silently alert to incoming calls.  (this is a small charity radio studio)

There is an on-screen clock, which can take input over IP in any format (so a TCP packet would be fine etc.)

Can the MiVo250 do that?  Can it send out a "ringing" signal over IP?  We don't have any SIP endpoints - I had thought of maybe trying to capture SIP INVITE messages, but was a non-starter.

You guys are the fount of all knowledge!  Fingers crossed you can help!

MiVoice Office 250/Mitel 5000 / MWI for Mailbox on multiple phones?
« on: January 31, 2023, 03:36:17 AM »
I'm sure I used to be able to do this, but it's been so long the process evades me, and apparently so does the right terminology to get a good hit on a search!

We have the following setup:

Hunt Group 2000 with Extensions 1001, 1002, 1003, 1004 assigned.

Mailbox 2000 assigned to the HG.  This is because we don't want individual mailboxes - just a single voicemail that is across all the phones in the HG.

What is it that I'm missing / need to do, to get extensions 1001-1004 to ALL have MBX2000 as their 'default' mailbox.  I would like the MWI to indicate messages on MBX2000 and I would each of the extensions to automatically enter the MBX when dialing Voicemail.

It's been a lot of years, and I was proud enough of myself to have got as far as having a Huntgroup, STAR, CRAs etc... but this little piece of the puzzle evades me.

Any help, as always, greatly appreciated :)

Thank you, I will generally ask first as I know, when you're seen as expert it often results in your getting bombarded.  I appreciate it

Well, that turned out to be VERY useful indeed.

I would generally search before posting but as I recall my Mitel account being pretty secure, I assumed InterTel would be similar.  Whoda thunk they'd have "standard" credentials.

Once more, like bank in 2015, TE has made a tough task so much easier.

Boy that FTP is slow though! :D

So, turns out I have 8 licensed SIP Trunks too.  Useful, but will just be using our existing POTS
ports (for now!) Still a nice surprise.

Thanks as ever for the support!

Hi TE - I don't ever recall having access to InterTel - it was only a Mitel portal I had, and it was associated with my old work email, so wouldn't be able to garner a password reset.

Also just looked through the old log files - there were some costly additional licences on this box before I rushed to reset it.  Kicking myself now, although I won't need the functionality, but still.  :D

I think I'm going to be stuck now till I can get into programming... I'll keep digging though.

Appreciate all the help

Hello All

It's been a _LONG_ time since I was here.  The last time I worked on / installed stuff it was still called "MITEL 5000".

Anyway - many years have passed, and I now work with a charity who has been gifted a bunch of MiVoice 250 kit.  (So... Mitel 5000, right?)

Usual story - business went under, they'd kept the stuff for a while, then moved overseas.  So long-story-short - *I* now have the kit, to make good for a basic system for the charity.

I have:

Reset the DB.
Configured the network
Logged in via Web Portal
Confirmed Versions: 6.2.5.80 MiVO-250
Confirmed Licence Count - 11x CAT-D 16x CAT-E (there is a DDM16 installed, so makes sense)

Obviously there's a bunch of config and setup I need to do - I need to get my mits on the latest Software Admin and Diags... I understand it's locked down these days... not unexpected that my old ID doesn't work any more.

Given it's a volunteer-only, donation-funded charity (which doesn't rely on a system) there's no budget to get it under a partner - especially with the plethora of spares I've got, and are available.

Is there any equivalent / open source version of SA&D that I can get that works on MiVO-250 6.2.5.80?

If anyone else wants to give any advice to a "rusty" tech, I'd be happy to hear from you - I might even have my MITEL 5000 certificates somewhere.... 9 years ago....!

Happy new year to everyone, and thanks for the help,

Ross

Checked / confirmed licenceI have 11x CAT-D and 16x CAT-E licences.  (I have a DDM16 module so the CAT-E count makes sense)

« on: August 28, 2015, 03:33:13 AM »
hi TE

I'm surprised I didn't know that as well.  After maintaining our office for 2 years, and having installed more systems than I have fingers and toes, I've never realised I could Copy and Paste to multiple lines.  Maybe that's something you get on the official Mitel courses.  (should I mention here that my qualification is purely by experience?!)

Some of the technical stuff, I have absolutely no problems with.  The standard, basic (and very essential) bits - I seem to come unstuck with.

My favorite (and most embarassing) one so far, was setting up a nice new system, everything working except the small function of incoming calls - STAR was set, Call Routing was set - EVERYTHING was set - except the ring-in destination on the trunks.  Stupid boy!!

Everyone here, with their collective knowledge, is just such a great resource for those, like myself, who are constantly learning.

Thanks again for your help :)

MiVoice Office 250/Mitel 5000 / Bulk / Batch Edit of Extensions
« on: August 27, 2015, 03:53:21 AM »
Hi All

On a recent upgrade I made a slight faux-pas and deleted the default Trunk Group (92001) - no problem, I thought, as I'll just re-create the new trunks in TG92001 - and all will be fine.

Except...

All extensions (of which there are MANY) have lost their "Outgoing Extension" and "Emergency Extension".  There are 40+ extensions.  I don't relish the thought of having to click through each individual extension, into the relevant 'associated extensions', and re-add the 92001 back in.  Surely there must be a way (as on the 3300) to batch-change the extensions?

Obviously, this is a live system (live-give or take the ability to call out!) so I'd like to get it back ASAP.

And for future note - if upgrading from ISDN2 to ISDN30, it's better to ADD the ISDN30 trunks into the default TG, and then DELETE the ISDN2 trunks from it.  Lesson learned!

Now I just need some help to fix it easily - hope one of the regulars can help me out :)

MiVoice Office 250/Mitel 5000 / Re: SIP Trunking Issue / Question
« on: July 15, 2015, 03:13:59 AM »
Hi TE

Thanks for a nicely concise guide - I *think* I'd covered most of your points in my previous attempts however.  I'll knock it down to zero again, and start again from scratch.

Over the weekend, I ran up the SIP trunks on a test-bed of 3CX to see what was going on.  The one thing I noticed is that ALL numbers in all (both?!) directions are sent using the full international format.  When I tried to send 01234567890 the call failed - when I tried 00441234567890, again, it failed.  The only way it works is when Twilio receives +441234567890 as the string.  Can I force the 5000 to do this?

Also - is there any way I can achieve the SIP traces "officially"?  I'm more than handy with tcpdump / Wireshark, and following the conversation at packet level, but I'd have thought there should be some way to enable some verbose SIP logging somewhere?

If you're into SIP at all, Twilio is pretty nice.  Definitely worth a play with, for the money it costs.

Really appreciate your help thus far - hopefully I'll have some time to get back to it this week.

Today I'm standing atop a hill, to see how many internets one of our WISP partners can beam across to us - for another of our existing Mitel clients.

Many thanks :)

Ross

MiVoice Office 250/Mitel 5000 / SIP Trunking Issue / Question
« on: July 10, 2015, 06:36:40 AM »
Hello all - my first post - I'm putting it in here, because it's specifically 5000 related, rather than more generally SIP related:

I am trying to utilise SIP Trunking on a Mitel 5000 - v6.  Licences are in place.

I am having issues with getting the system to authenticate and, as I'm working remotely, I'm not able to see exactly what strings the Mitel is sending to the provider.

a) Has anyone successfully used Twilio SIP trunking on the 5000 - and if so would you be willing to share a config?

b) Is there any way I can monitor (ideally, at packet level) the SIP conversation between the 5000 and Twilio, **without** being physically on site.

I have access to the LAN, but the site is very non-technical, so I'm not able to direct someone to assist in packet captures - it would likely make them explode.

Twilio have provided some indepth info here:  https://www.twilio.com/docs/sip-trunking  -   and also, some sample configs here:  https://www.twilio.com/docs/sip-trunking/sample-configuration

I'm just having REAL issues converting this information into Mitelese.

Hope someone is able to help out - many thanks :)
