Mitel Software Applications / Re: Exchange Unified Messaging

Does the decode of the SIP session show a REINVITE from G.(whatever you are using) to T.38 ?  If so which party is requesting the signaling change? Exchange 2007 with SP1 will do inband fax tone detection and media negotiation. You need to do this on one side or the other, probably on the Mitel side if you are already using it there... If you are detecting faxes in the 3300 you should disable it on exchange. When exchange gets a sip reinvite from the mitel to T.38 media it will wait for a fax whether it receives a tone or not. If there is no fax involved at all then either the dial plan is forcing T.38 or some option in the PBX is forcing it.

Probably that your network switch doesn't support CDP or it is configured incorrectly.

Ralph- The ringer appears to be a lamp from the API's point of view. You can set the state attribute of the ringer to get different ring types. They aren't terribly distinct, but there is a noticeable difference if you are used to the way the phone normally rings.

34
No. There is no reason to do that without SIP. Configuration is done via the PBX.

35
On a 53xx, you can use the HTML application toolkit to change the state of the ringer depending on incoming caller ID... but that may be more involved than you want it to be.

Point it to your SMTP server and allow relaying from their IP.

Or set up a transport with some software that can do authentication at the customer site.

37
Can you give the actual exception text from the phone? On the 5330 hold down the Up and Down Arrow keys, release the Up arrow key and dial "CFG" (234) and release the Down key. A menu will appear on the phone display. Press # (No) until you get to "Tools and Features." Inside that menu go to "Diagnostics" and select "Last Assert/Except."

Record all of that text here (use the down arrow key to scroll through).

What software version are you running on the 3300s ?

38
What exception is being thrown?

Look in the phone Diagnostics menu for the Last Assert/Except. Scroll through and write down everything and post it here. Are you running any applications on the 53xx phones?

That's the cause of the first problem but isn't related to the dropped call issue. And the first thing wasn't really a problem anyway.

Everywhere you can. 6510, cisco, tw, etc. Anything that is related. try running a constant ping through one of the phones (via the PC port) and see if you loose the pings as well. Since there are so many hosts involved in your description you;ll have to pretty much rule them out one by one.

Is there any sort of IP address or proxy ARP conflict that is causing ARP poisoning on any of the involved hosts? make sure that the arp tables on each are correct and don't flap.

Oh =) Yes it is expected behavior to send bogus redirects when an encrypted packet don't traverse the firewall (use the same interface). The teleworker is simply trying to get the hosts to stop using it improperly. These messages will go away when you move out of the DMZ.  The kernel doesn't realize what's going on because the RTC packets are encrypted.

The CXI has the capability to set up a PPTP server for Remote Access, but it doesn't include the mechanism to do any sort of site to site VPN.

The docs probably say you can't IP trunk over the WAN port because they don't support IP trunking through a NAT environment. If you encapsulate the IP Trunking in a point to point tunnel the NAT becomes transparent and I've never heard them complain about such a setup.

Are you familiar with iptables? Look at the chains that start with InboundICMP. There may be a few, because a new chain is created after every config change. To maintain the changes through a reboot or through an expand-template process (which happens when you configure the server using the menu or web user interface), you'll have to make the changes in /etc/e-smith/templates/etc/rc.d/init.d/masq, specifically the file 90adjustICMPIn.

Honestly I don't really understand what you mean by "A phone on the same subnet calls through the TW Server to any internal phone" .. What do you mean by a phone on the same subnet?

Those are just messages about the stream sockets closing without the protocol closing the connection cleanly. There are two because a socket is created for each endpoint of the call. The constant FSM_TX_CLOSE_TIMEDOUT tells you that the connection was manually closed because it timed out. It timed out because your IP phone restarted.

In other words, these error messages are the result of your 5330 restarting. The 5330 didn't restart because of these errors, and the errors don't tell you anything about why the phone restarted.

Are you using 802.3af PoE ? It could be that your device is under-powered or that you simply have a bad phone set.
