You will have to talk to your VAR about resetting the password on the controller. When they do this, the controller will need to be reset and the password will be back to default.

In doing this process, all other user accounts will be lost.

Just a reminder Ya'll:   If you know how to do this, don't publish this procedure on an open forum.

Agreed. There is a process on the Mitel website.

While I think I know this procedure - I question the secrecy of it.  Almost all the other products I work with have well published password recovery procedures.  They vary as to what info you loose in the process, but it is out there.  Mitel on the other hand wants to be secretive on this process.  Is it because it can be done remotely?  I thought you had to have the physical console to do it.

Either way, I don't get it.  If it can be done remotely, that is a HUGE bug and must be fixed.  If it can't be done remotely then what is the harm?

Yes, I agree, that other providers do list on how to default passwords on their kit. However, I do think in Mitel's VAR set-up, this is nessesary. This process will protect the VAR. For example:

If a customer moved from one VAR to another VAR due with difficulties and a password reset was needed, I'm sure that Mitel would make sure that the original VAR was fully paid by the customer before they would release the password to the new VAR.

This process cannot be done remotely and has to be done while on site.

I should have mentioned that I'm not opposed to providing the procedures via PM.   I just don't want to see it posted publicly.
I recently made a comment to our TAM about resetting a password and he immediately made sure to tell me he wasn't supposed to give me the procedures.  So within Mitel they are protecting it and if that is the case I think we should take care to protect it from the general public ~even if~ it can be found else where.

I understand the logic and business decision - guess I just disagree with it. :)  That may stem from our business model where we do the installation, but the gear and end system belongs to the customer.  Also, for what it is worth, if I was on the customers end and a vendor refused to provide passwords, for WHATEVER reason,  let's just say I hope my vetting process wouldn't let me get into that situation.

We have customers who don't pay like everyone.  At some point in the process, we print off their documentation (including passwords), hand it to them, and send them off to collections.  I don't think we have ever held that information hostage.  Also, more than once one of those customers has come back asking for support - rarely do we take them back as a customer beyond lowest priority, simple time and materials, hourly rate work.

Anyway.....</end rant>

Sanjiv,

Sorry about hijacking your thread.  I think Mitel100 nailed it and you will need to work with your existing or a new Mitel Partner to get this taken care of....

Ralph or Mitel100

Can you advise where on Mitel's web site there is password recovery on Mitel's web site?

Mitel does not provide a password recovery procedure.
If you need one, you have to work through the dealer and Mitel engineers can reset it for you.
