Title: SimpleSMDR
Post by: johnp on July 28, 2015, 11:15:15 AM
Ralph has been kind enough to host my modified versions and they are available at http://mitelforums.com/software/ (http://mitelforums.com/software/) I'll try and answer any questions when possible. Feel free to try it and also I would like to give thanks to Gerry Armstrong for his work in making this software.

What's the difference between  3300EDL.pl 3300E.pl 3300S.pl? I assume I have to rename one of them to 3300.pl based on [something] because the smdrconnect script complains that 3300.pl doesn't exist otherwise.

Also, what license is this stuff under? I feel like it belongs on Github...

If I remember, EDL is extended data length and the S is standard. I think you may have to modify the scrpt to run your choice.

How difficult would it be to modify this software to handle multiple 3300's? I have a customer looking for a "cheap" solution for a couple hundred 3300's. It's a public school district, so their budget is essentially zero. Right now I'm collecting the files nightly on a Windows server, using a program called DropIt to organize the files into folders by the create date of the file, and using Notepad++ to search for strings in the files. It works, but something at least a little less ugly would be nice. Real-time collection would be nice, but something that just ran nightly on the existing collected data files would work. I have zero programming experience.

I think it can be setup to collect from mutliple sites. You may need to run several collector scripts and I'm not sure if they would need differing names and slight modification of the corresponding config file but thing that would do it.
