MCD 4.0 is the new name (thanks Mitel marketing team) for 3300 rel 10.0. There are two versions for it, MCD on 3300 and MCD on MXe Server. You continue to use the same App record. There will be major changes in Feb when MCD 4.1 comes out.

I don't think it will be too bad. There will not be as many p/n's to keep up with. My only concern is a price increase for the enterprise customers.

I really like that the existing customer base will get free resielnt licenses when they upgrade to 4.1, as long as they have IP trunking enabled.

I was in a meeting with Mitel the other day....the engineer suggested that if I could avoid 4.1 and wait till 5.0 came out it would be a good thing.

I have heard some of the same things from our reps. So it is not supposed to be a pain right now. I have several systems on different versions. I have been thinking of doing a big upgrade to be on the same release. Maybe I might wait? Any suggestions?

Thats great if you don't want to install any new 3300's until the GA of 5.0. According to Mitel anything purchased after the GA of 4.1 must be 4.1 unless you are given special permission.

??? Unfortunately project deadlines are making me upgrade to 4.1. I have brought most of my standalone and clustered systems to 4.0. I am doing an upgrade of my corp system next week and we are going to go to 4.1.

We are trying to use the Hotdesk ACD feature and I think this is only available in 4.1. I know it does not work in 4.0 becasue I have several 4.0 systems and I cannot convert an ACD user to Hot Desk.

Also, now I can order a 5360 for myself! hehe!

So what is going to be so hot about 5.0?

It will alow sites that are running Enterprise/OPS to upgrade past 4.0. As of right now Mitel does not recommend that those sites use 4.1 since Enterprise Manager is not supported (it will be at 5.0). I'm not too sure what else will be bundled with it.

If I remember right, they may simplify setting up site to site IP trunking.   Pretty much a plug and play.   Hopefully that will pan out.

It is fairly simple now, just too many forms to enter info into.
