Title: Teleworker One-Way Audio
Post by: bluewhite4 on January 13, 2012, 04:26:03 PM
Have a customer, who purchased some new Teleworker phones. The MAS that their MBG is a part of, has a direct connection to the internet via T1. The teleworker phones have internet access across their MPLS network, through another site.

If a teleworker phone places either an internal call to a PBX local phone, or outbound call, the teleworker user is able to hear the person they called, but the person they called can't hear them.

I know that one-way audio issues are almost always gateway problems, and also know that MPLS networks suck for audio.

How can I identify where my gateway problem is in this scenario? The TNA tool passes its test from the remote location, and the phones obviously can see the server as they download their firmware.

Any and all help appreciated.

When you say 'direct connection to the internet' does that mean the server is in server/gateway mode?
Is it's public IP address Nat'd?   How is the server configured/

Yes, server-gateway mode, non-nat'd. For the moment the second NIC is plugged to a direct feed off their ISP.

I brought a phone up in our shop, and was able to make two-way audio internal and external calls through there teleworker.

I am experiencing the same issue. Was there a resolution?

I think you're going to have to do a wireshark trace in order to figure out what's happening.
You can do that from the command line of the MBG but you'll have to transfer the file to your laptop/desktop in order to read it.

Here's the command to capture from the root:  tcpdump -i any -n -s0 -C 20 -W 3 -Z root -w mitel.cap

Had a similar problem, make sure your MBG has the ip address of all the networks under "local networks". I am under a different scenario where my mbg connects to another mbg at another site via vpn route and they were not aware of each other networks.
