Title: Distinctive ring for an inbound call
Post by: hodgts on January 06, 2009, 07:08:13 PM
Can a 3300 be programed to have a unique ring for a unique inbound call?

Yes.  It will do a double ring.   What type of trunks are you using?

Do you mean when a specific number calls?

Example 555-1000 gives one type of ring and 555-2000 gives another?

Yes, I only need one number to ring different.

No

But that would be a neat feature

Not only that, but it would be nice to be able to route based on CID.

Sigh.....

Ralph,
Are you saying with a T1/PRI, I can set an incoming DID call to double-ring and an internal call to single-ring on a 3300? If so, how????

On a 53xx, you can use the HTML application toolkit to change the state of the ringer depending on incoming caller ID... but that may be more involved than you want it to be.

Honestly, I didn't know you could make a PRI do a single ring.   So I'm a bit stumped.   When I can squeeze out some time I'll try to find it.

chadmaynard,
I'd be interested in how that would be done via the HTML tool kit.   Any idea how many different types of rings are available?

There is a COS option for internal ring cadance that should give a single ringback tone

Found it.
Thank v2win.

Check the COS of the phone.
You're looking for "External Trunk Standard Ringback" .   Default is "no"
I'd bet yours says "yes".

Change it and try is out.

Ralph- The ringer appears to be a lamp from the API's point of view. You can set the state attribute of the ringer to get different ring types. They aren't terribly distinct, but there is a noticeable difference if you are used to the way the phone normally rings.
