New UC360 Firmware (2.1.5.4)
« on: March 30, 2017, 12:05:27 PM »
Hey Guys,
Looks like the newest firmware was released (2.1.5.4) for the UC360. I went to see what has changed in this "Minor" release update, but got a chuckle from the release notes. Looks like all they did was take the 2.1.5.3 release notes and replace the cover and table of contents page. I'm gonna reach out to Mitel on this to see if I can get an answer on what was updated.

Thanks,
-Iron

Crap, you're going to make me try to navigate the new KMS to get the release notes? I hate that bloody thing.

Looks like they disabled ADB, which is an Android thing that someone found a security hole in recently.

Someone forgot to replace the references to 2.1 SP5 with 2.1 SP6. My test unit is upgrading now, I'll let you know if this blows it up.

Hey lundah,
Being that it was a minor release, I had too thought it was to patch that security vulnerability they uncovered recently. I just found it funny that all they did for the release notes in MoL was cut out a couple pages off of their 2.1.5.3 release notes documentation and put a new cover and table of contents page on it. I'll dig deeper in the KMS's too, and check out those "Real" release notes.

Thanks,
Iron

lundah,
I also got into KMS and did a search for Mitel UC360 2.1.5.4 and found the link to the same release notes. I'd like to see what you saw in KMS. I've opened up a dialog with Mitel who confirms the same thing (Same document with only the cover and table of contents page for the 2.1.5.4 release notes) They are going to have an internal discussion to see if it was a mistake, etc. I'll follow back up once I hear something.

Thanks,
-Iron

When the ADB vulnerability was made public a couple months ago, Mitel put out a bulletin about it, saying they'd send out a new release that removed ADB, so I just assumed this was that release. But maybe whoever wrote up the RN didn't copy and paste things right.

**UPDATE**
Just wanted to follow-up here to let everyone know that Mitel has yet to respond to me regarding the 2.1.5.4 release notes. (Not gonna hold my breath on this one) BUT a newer firmware was released a few days ago (2.1.6.4) Looks like a few fixes concerning dropped calls and Inbound call crashes have been addressed, also the ability to enable or disable TLS v1.0 has been added. Everything else seems to be the same.
