Option 129 Missing
« on: July 26, 2016, 02:00:21 PM »
Hello,

I am setting up a new site and I'm using option 125 like I have in the past and the first few phones i booted up are looking for option 129. I put option 129 in there to see if it would resolve my issue. Even with option 129 under DHCP options the phone's 5330e brand new don't seem to grab anything. Any help would be appreciated. The phones also display Contacting RCS then RCS error. I'm not sure what RCS is.

Thanks,

I went into network parameters and statically assigned the vlan Id and then under IPV4 assigned the ICP and TFTP server. This allowed the phone to get an IP and download the latest firmware. I thought once this was downloaded I could remove those options which I did and the phone would not boot up again. I am using 7.2 so unless something changed and I wouldn't think I would have to statically assign anything.

Thanks,

You have 2 options:
1/ Use LLDP on the network switches to advertise the Voice VLAN ID to the phones.
or
2/ Use Option 129 within the Data VLAN scope to give the phone the correct VLAN ID for the Voice VLAN when it boots up. The phone will then reset itself and boot up in the Voice VLAN (and use Option129 off the Voice VLAN again to get its details).
