Can I hang up on folks?

Embedded VM with an informational MB plays the canned greetings and then transfers the callers after timeout. Customer wants their greeting to play and then the system drop the call. Is that possible with the embedded? Can't use a normal mailbox because they don't want messages left. Menu node would transfer them after timeout too, I think.

Suggestions?

Set it up as a RAD instead of a VM. It will hang-up after it's played.

Down-side is that you have to dedicate a port(s) to this purpose though...

Menu Node Mailboxes will allow you to disconnect the caller after the message is played. Although the greeting does play 3 times before disconnecting.

Changing a Menu Node Mailbox Time Out Behavior

    Access the Administrator's Mailbox.
    Press [2] to edit or delete mailboxes.
    Press [2] for the Edit Mailbox menu.
    Enter the mailbox number to edit.
    Press [#] until you get to the Menu Node Time Out option. The system specifies the active Menu Node Time Out behavior:
    "Disconnect on menu mailbox time out is disabled" – callers are sent to the mailbox operator upon time out.
    "Disconnect on menu node time out is enabled" – callers are disconnected upon time out.

    To disconnect callers upon time out, press [1] (enable disconnect).
    To send callers to the mailbox operator upon time out, press [2] (disable disconnect).

        Note: The default is "Disconnect on menu mailbox time out is disabled".

    The system returns you to the mailbox.

The thing I always hated about the menu node mailbox is that you can't change the amount of times the greeting plays before going to timeout behaviour.

Be careful if changing to a RAD.  I haven't tried this in a log time but it used to be that if you called a RAD port it effectively turned it into an auto attendant allowing the user to dial anything - including ARS access.

If not using a menu node it may be better to route it to an ACD path with a RAD that starts immediately and then disconnects after a timeout.
That way it couldn't turn it into a AA.

RAD will function without a risk when it is setup within a Voice Huntgroup. It will play once and disconnect without collecting any digits.   :)
