Difference between Mxe I and Mxe II
« on: April 27, 2016, 01:54:37 PM »
Does anyone know an easy way to distinguish an Mxe II from an Mxe I? They both say Mxe on the front panel and Mxe in about page. Mitel is asking if they are Mxe I or Mxe II for maintenance quotes. The PBX's are located in the UK, mounted in a Rack, so chassis part numbers are not easily obtainable.

Thanks!

As quoted in another post "The difference is in the DSP module mounted on the midplane (slot 7 in System Hardware Modules). MXe is a 21262, MXe-II is a 21363."

Is this the way?

MXe has an IDE interface for the hard drive, MXeII has a SATA interface for the hard drive, that is primary difference...

Can't you just login and issue the maintenance command "PLATFORMTYPE"?

EDIT: And I am pretty sure the MXeII says that on the front panel of the chassis, not just MXe... they are distinctly labeled.

MXeIII have sata, also a faster processor. II was still IDE and I think the dsp module will tell you which one it is using those values.

Yes the embedded DSP is different. Also a different part number, assuming you can see the underside of the controller. The original MXe is a 50005080, the II is either a 50005090 or 50006211.

I'm just going to say they are MXE II. I don't have anyone onsite able to take the controller out of the rack in order to check part numbers.
Thanks all!

Why do you need to go to site, Just look at the ESM, Hardware\Hardware Modules then look at card description as detailed below

If slot 7 is a type 84 (4 SHARC 21262 DSP) then the controller is an original MXe If slot 7 is a type 94 (4 SHARC 21363 DSP) then the controller is an MXE-II
