Phantom transfer to PRI trunk - Beep?
« on: May 19, 2015, 10:07:18 AM »
My manager is a bit...picky.  Anyway, it was brought to my attention that when a transfer to a Phantom extension that is assigned a number outside of our network, there is a short beep, then it rings the public network.  This to me sounds completely normal.  However, I was asked to see if there was a way to suppress the *beep*...

From my desk phone, dial a phantom -> Phantom is assigned a public number -> my call gets routed to ring the public number

What kind of outside line?  I have PRI and there's no beep on either IC or DID calls to the ext.  But I think I have heard it on loop start.

Our outside lines are brought in through a PRI, and this phantom is dialing a 3rd party company that we deal with.  It's not a huge deal - I just wondering if there's a way to suppress the tone when transferring.  I suppose it would be handled by a loopstart.

SitrucKram,

That is the transfer complete tone that you are hearing. Do you have Dynamic Extension on your system? If you do then we can do this another way so you don't have that tone.

Thanks,

TE

Yes, I believe we do.  Although I've never used it.  Most of what I know of Mitel systems is what I learned from a set of older Inter-Tel Axxess systems.  Mostly the same, but there are some new features.

SitrucKram,

Alright, let's try this and see if it works for you. Look at Software License and see if you have Dynamic Extension Express set to Yes; if you do then follow the next few steps. If not then you do not have this feature available on your system.

Create a Phantom Extension we can use for a test of this feature.

System > Devices and Feature Codes > Phantoms and Hot Desk Profiles: In the right-hand pane right-click and Add Phantom Extension.

Next let's make sure the Phantom Extension uses the ARS feature to call out.

System > Devices and Feature Codes > Phantoms and Hot Desk Profiles > Associated Extension:
Attendant: None
Message Center: None
Alternate Message Source: None
Transfer Recall Destination: itself
Voice Mail: None
Outgoing Extension: Should be set to ARS [92000:Default].
Agent Help: None
Agent Help User-Keyed Extension: No
Emergency Extension: Same as Outgoing Extension [92000: Default]
Associated User Extension: None

Next let's remove the ability for this phantom extension to be placed into DND.

System > Devices and Feature Codes > Phantoms and Hot Desk Profiles > Flags:
Do-Not-Disturb Allowed: No

Then go to Users and create a user from an existing device.

Users: In the right-hand pane right-click and Create User(s) --> Create From Existing Devices and select Phantom/Hot Desk Profile and click Next. Select the new Phantom Extension that you just created and click Create User(s) button.

Under the Destinations tab single left-click on the Destination field to the right of Mobile and put in your cell phone number as it would have to be dialed from the 5000 and then click the Create button.

Now open up the newly created User so we can set it up to work properly for your new application.

Make sure that the follow are set properly.
Enable Dynamic Extension Express: Yes
Enable DND Override: Yes
Enable Human-Answer-Supervision: Off
Enable Personal Conference Access: No
Enable Mid-Call Features: No
Enable Voice Detection: No
Enable User Web Portal: No <--This is debatable depending on whether you want to access certain features for the phantom extension via the web browser.

Now, call the phantom extension from your desk phone and it should call out to your cell phone. There could be a few other options we may need to set to make this work; like Calling Party Number, Propagate Original Caller ID.

Thanks,

TE
