Cordless Module (White Jumper)
« on: December 08, 2014, 01:08:25 PM »
Hi all,
I was curious if anyone knew what the little white jumper that is included in the Cordless Module was meant for. There is no indication in the install manual what it is for or why it is needed. It has been speculated to me that it disables the Physical Headset Port on the back side of the phone, but I have not confirmed that (For wired Headsets). Below is a picture of the Jumper I speak of (Circled in Red) and the spot on the phone where it is meant to be installed (Circled in Green). Any info on this would be great.

Thanks,
-Iron

It seems to me if I'm remembering this correctly, that I installed a couple of headsets with out using that strap.
Seemed to work fine.

ralph,
That's kinda cool to know, but I just wanted to know what it was for to begin with. Naturally with Mitel everything is so cryptic, that or they simply don't want you knowing too much. haha.

Thanks,

I always thought it sent power to the cordless handset charging plate. Could be wrong.
There has also been some talk about using an old cdrom audio cable to make one.

I thought the same thing. But more for the cordless headset setup than the handset.

It may be a strap that summons all the powers of goodness and light.
A black strap would summon something else.

**UPDATE**
I came across another issue that dealt with this little white jumper. I have reached out to Mitel for clarification on this and they have confirmed that it is indeed meant to deliver power to the headset when placed in the cradle. I know that without it, it still delivers power but my guess is that it is not enough or does an extremely slow charge. (I have re-asked Mitel on this since I currently have a ticket open) I'll update as soon as they respond.

Thanks,
-Iron

**UPDATE CONT'D**
Mitel has gotten back to me and said that not having it installed will give off the side effect of an extremely slow charge.

Thanks,

Thanks for chasing this down. I had a question about this from a customer a couple months ago, best answer I could give them was "if the installation guide says install it, then install it".
