Installing LSM-4 into Mitel 5000 HX
« on: August 08, 2018, 11:17:08 AM »
I am trying to install an LSM-4 module into a Mitel 5000 HX running v.5 to get more usable CO lines.

We plugged the module into Bay 2 and locked it in, but the Online light does not light and the System Admin & Diagnostic says it is offline. Does the unlit Online light indicate a bad module? Or does it have to be programmed for the light to go green?

Giacomo,

Go to System > Controller:

In the right-hand side you will see that Bay 2 is set to Uninstalled by default. Just use the drop down box and set it to Loop Start Module - 4. It is going to pop up a box to verify that you really want to change it to an LSM-4 just click Yes.

Once that is set then just double left-click on the new card to program in the Loop Start Ports.

System > Controller > Bay 2: Loop Start Module - 4

Highlight all of them and then right-click on the group to select Batch Change Type, select Loop Start, and click OK. It will provide you with the first available extension ID and if it doesn't matter to you what it is then just click OK.

Your ports are now ready for use to put in a CO Trunk Group.

Thanks,

TE

Thanks. Did all that, but the Online light is not lit. We're thinking it's a bad card...

Giacomo,

The only other things you can do is the following to determine it is a bad card.

1. Take the card back out and reseat it.
2. Reboot the system after reseating the card.
3. Try another card slot after programming it up.

If that doesn't bring it up then it is most likely a bad card.

Thanks,

TE

Thanks. Sounds like a bad card then. We're re-ordering as we type.

Thanks a lot. After we get the replacement card I'll post the result.

LOL. The purchasing agent never asked me what card to buy, and the person installing it did not show me what module he installed.

Turned out, it was the SLM-4 module! Once I had them order the correct card, I programmed Bay 2 ahead of time for the LSM-4, and when the installer plugged in the card, the Online light lit up and the card worked immediately.
