Mitel 250 internal DHCP fails after power loss
« on: May 15, 2018, 10:47:41 AM »
Hello,
I have a customer with a Mitel MiVoice 250 running 6.2 firmware.
They have an issue where when the power goes out (blackout) and the phone system reboots, the internal DHCP server fails to start.
all the IP phones turn on, but do not get any DHCP until i log into the system.  I have to turn off the DHCP server, and then enable it.
Then all the phones boot up correctly.
If i reboot the system or do a shutdown, when i turn it back on the DHCP works.

Any body have any ideas on why it fails after the power loss?

I have seen this after an upgrade before... Try defaulting all DHCP settings and reconfiguring it manually. All settings for DHCP can be defaulted in the PBX in Operations Menu - DHCP Server Operations - Default DHCP Server Settings. Usually clears it up. Make sure to commit the database manually before testing.

I would also suggest getting a UPS and pluggin in the USB so the system shuts down properly

imperium,

Are the phones showing a Gateway Error when they boot up?

If this is the case then the DHCP server is working, but the Mitel Automatic portion for the Router (Default Gateway) [Option 3] is not posting correctly.

To fix this problem just change it from Mite Automatic to IP Address and then put in the Default Gateway under IP Settings and the problem goes away.

Thanks,

TE

I have seen this before as well... Defaulting the DHCP server settings and setting it up again usually fixes it as well, leaving it automatic.

Excellent Ideas.  I tried suggesting a UPS to them, but they don't seem to think they need it.

I'll try defaulting the DHCP settings and setting them again.
