Phone forwarding auto cancels
« on: July 17, 2017, 04:40:30 PM »
I have forwarded many phones in the past and most are set for a day or two while the user is on vacation, but recently I am told that 1 particular users phone has unforwarded by itself and the other users have to go and forward the phone again (once a week or so). This is a concern because I had a user set her phone to forward the other day and when she got back from vacation after a day or so she had 14 VM messages on her phone and nobody was answering her calls because they were not forwarded to the phone the entire time (the phone did not stay forwarded). What would make a phone unforward automatically?

Chris

FirstSource,

My first guess would be the user has either MiCollab or Phone Manager client that is changing it. The only other reasonable explanation is that someone in the office is changing it.

Thanks,

TE

My first thought is that somebody was changing the setting as well, but I can't think of anybody in the office that would take the time out to unforward the phone of a user that is out because of medical reasons. I don't know what MiCollab or Phone Manager is.

FirstSource,

Do you have an Operator with Attendant Console?

Thanks,

We used to have attendant console installed on a PC, but we no longer use it. We have a virtual receptionist and such have removed the use for anybody to operate the attendant console since.

FirstSource,

There is nothing else that I can think of that would cause such a thing to happen. Do you know if the phone is having issues and rebooting a lot?

Thanks,

TE

This has happened to 2 separate phones and I am not aware of any reboot issues. Considering that forwarding is a system setting even if the phone reboots that shouldn't remove the forwarding. I can't think of anything else either.

FirstSource,

I can't remember the name of the log, but if you look under the SA&D program you will find System Information box and a Logs button there. Go into those logs and in one of them you will see OAI information that will tell you how the system thinks it was set and removed from manual forwarding.

Sorry,

TE
